Summer update 5

Wednesday, July 16, 2014

*No new fitness achievements. We haven't had jump rope or rope climb on our workouts for awhile. Of course that means I have not practiced either:)
*Boot camp planning is coming right along! Lots of samples and I have almost all the details ironed out:)
*Been subbing lots at the new gym:) Co-teaching a class tonight. This will be one of two that I will teach next month.
*Confidently Fit LLC now has its own Facebook page, in case you are interested in checking it out:)
*Ab training was interesting. Lots of variations of sit ups and only one plank. Not sure why this was or why I thought there would be more. The presenter wasn't sure of the set up either. She just went with what was in the manual.
I discovered I do sit ups way too fast, and that they actually work your hip flexors more when you do them quickly. So that's why my legs seize, or part of the reason:) Your belly button should be pushed to your spine, basically all day long to engage your lower abs. I am very guilty of not doing this. I am also very guilty of not doing this during most of my workout. Must work on this:)
*A good core workout should include a flexion exercise (like a sit up), a rotation exercise (like a bicycle), and a back exercise (like a superman). That way you are working all of your ab muscles (upper, lower, and obliques). Just make sure you do them slowly. 8-15 reps and train them like any other muscle group, giving a day off in between sessions.

Next up advance resistance training and Xerball (which is a medicine ball). Can't wait to see how those go:)
Any fun plans for anyone coming up?
