My Romanesque eating habits of late have finally dealt its swift and just rebute. I have been firmly educated in the fact that it IS NOT in my body’s best interest to eat take-out pizza or Chinese food, to gorge on potato chips and soda or indulge in a quarter pound cheeseburger and macaroni and cheese. Oh, let us not forget the homemade buttermilk pancakes and maple sausage links and grilled brats and potato chips for breakfast (yes, I said breakfast) and the wine, lots of wine.
My body is in full revolt! My stomach woke me in the middle of the night last night and still feels a sense of tenderness and malaise, my tummy is extremely bloated and sore and my kidneys and urinary track are certainly not pleased with me at all. I know what long and diligent road lie ahead for me. I am going to have to cleanse the overload of toxins I have consumed. I was considering a juice cleanse but I am afraid of shocking my system ( finding conflicting information online about this) so I am going to do a combination of raw and whole foods for a few days and see how my body reacts. At the end of the week I will evaluate if I want to do a 5 day juice diet. I have never gone more than 3 days on a juice diet and have not done it in a very long time.
This is a drastic wakeup call for me. It has enlightened me to the fact that I need to take excellent care of what I put into my body and how I treat it. If I am going to be successful in attaining a healthy body I need to take this as a warning of what could plague me in the future if careful attention is not taken in regard to my health.
I affirm that this enlightenment will drive my determination to make a permanent lifestyle change, to fuel my body with the healthiest organic foods and to be active not only in my lifestyle but my community and beyond.
What I have eaten today:
Breakfast: Water, cashew cookie Lara Bar (on my way to work)
Snack #1: 16 oz Suja sweet beet juice and 1 cup of Rainer cherries
Lunch: Whole wheat wrap with organic grilled chicken, tomatoes, garlic grilled sweet peppers and onions. (left-overs)
Snack #2: medium organic apple
Dinner: Flax pita, formage blanc with 3 oz. smoked salmon, watermelon, cantaloupe.
I may try my yoga routine this evening depending on how I feel. I know it will help detoxify me.
