Thought of the day 7.12.14

Saturday, July 12, 2014

What has happened. I went through all my spark friends and noticed none seem to update their status any more. Does that mean that they just don't update their status - have they succeeded - have they reverted to the life style they lived prior to SP. Have they left SP?

I am just wondering.

I was saddened as I went through my SP friends - I realized I have now lost two SP friends to cancer.

Sometimes a friendly "nudge" can help a SparkFriend get back on track. Or hey, we might be pleasantly surprised to find that they're doing AWESOME but have been too busy to post...! :-)

Cancer has taken some of my family and friends well before their time. So tragic!

Hi, Jan. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friends.

I find it difficult to keep up with everything on SparkPeople. Time on the computer takes away time for biking, hiking, walking, etc. Guess it's a matter of prioritizing. I have one SparkTeam that has active challenges that I participate in and that's about all the time I have to spend on the computer.

Hope all is well with you.

Jan, sorry to hear about the losses. I too get saddened when I look through my sparkfriends and see so much inactivity. There were a few years there where we were all on, all day, it seemed. I for one and making more of an effort!

Frankly, I'm surprised anyone updates their status. Aren't blog posts enough? Status updates just seem duplicative and I don't need the busy work.

I'm still out here, still making progress, but I have to admit I don't post my status as often these days. I agree it is sad to see other SP disappear from the boards. Hopefully they are doing well, and if not hopefully they will return to the site.

I guess I should explore the site a little more and find out what my SP friends are up to.

I post daily in my team forum where I can go into more depth than a one sentence status. And also be part of a dialogue. I also post all of my fitness activities in the fitness tracker so if you were watching my feed you would see those. The status line is just one of many ways to participate and doesn't happen to do much for me.

Just read your blog entry. Your words encouraged me to go check my status update... and yep! it needed updating!

I'm on Spark daily. Every morning while sipping my coffee, I go to my Start page and fill out all three sections! (Especially spinning that Wheel! Currently on a 248 day spinning streak! LOL) But for some reason, I kept bypassing the Status Update.

    Thanks for the nudge!

    Sorry for your loss, Jan.

It is sad when people just disappear here. I'm still here and working on it yet again. I will get to my goals one of these days!
