Interesting Seminar yesterday

Friday, July 11, 2014

So I went to the seminar given by two doctors here in Mexico. It was very interesting and I will do more research. Basically they base their therapy on a Nobel Peace winner named Niels Jerne who was a Danish immunologist who is known for three significant ideas. Firstly, instead of the body producing antibodies in response to an antigen, Jerne postulated that the immune system already has the specific antibodies it needs to fight antigens (basically if you have a good immune system it kills the bad guys). Secondly, it was known that the immune system learns to be tolerant to the individual's own self. Jerne postulated that this learning takes place in the thymus. Thirdly, it was known that T cells and B cells communicate with each other. Jerne's network theory proposed that the active sites of antibodies are attracted to the specific antigens (bad guys) and to the antibodies that bind to the same site. The antibodies are in balance, until and antigen disturbs the balance, stimulating and immune reaction.

I know, technical. These doctors are saying that they will take 5cc of your own blood and then they add specific solutions to it depending on your autoimmune disorder and make a specific vaccination designed for your needs. This vaccine is suppose to retrain/rebuild your immune system so it does not attack your body which is what autoimmune disorders do. They have a web site but it is all in Spanish but if anyone is interested here it is

www.terapia-inmunocelula
r.com

You are trained to give yourself a daily shot of this designed vaccination for a year to retrain your immune system.

I am of course checking with all my doctors to see if they have heard of this and what they think. Sounds a bit too much like magic. But we all know that when we have an autoimmune we are looking for that "magic bullet".

Anyway will investigate a lot more!

Hope you all have a terrific day.
Sallie

That sounds interesting too. I too have an autoimmune disease if that is what it really is. I just don't like calling it a disease.

Interesting theory. Kind of like getting allergy shots to desensitize your immune system response to your worst allergy. It does work, but can always come back :(
It would be worth checking out and researching it further and see if this is heard of anywhere else at any other reputable institutions.

Wow, check into it and let us know if it is possible!!! I know that, we, who have an illness, will try our best to find a cure. It would be wonderful, wouldn't it?
I pray that your doctors have an answer. God bless you and have a great weekend!!!

Sounds interesting and definitely different. Whatever
you do, it is wise to check with your own doctors.
Have a great weekend Sallie. emoticon

I agree, this takes some more digging! It would be awesome if it did work, but I am always a little skeptical of any "miracle cure." I'm glad you are investigating!

Hugs,

Wow, that is so very interesting. I wonder how much research and testing they have done and what evidence they have that it will work? It does kind of make sense...but I always am skeptical about new stuff like that....

interesting, a personalised vaccine to retrain the immune system. Wish I could read spanish as I'd like to understand it better and love science.

Very interesting and sounds similar to cell therapy. I will be interested to hear what your docs have to say about it!

Definitely run this by your doctors and get their input!
It almost sounds too good to be true... but then there are new treatments discovered every day.
Having a daughter who has RA (since she was 14) I know we like to believe there is a miracle out there.

I checked out the name of Niels Jerne on the Internet. It is there. One has to ask if the treatment is what it said it is and to find answers you will have to read medical journals and research papers etc. I am pretty sure you will do your home work.

Yes, I would check this inside and out before you go injecting your self with an unknown substance. I would personally get every single substance they are going to inject in your blood, and send those list of ingredients to our own FDA to the states & get their opinion of what they are and if they are safe. I do not care what Noble Peace winner says, because so many medical research is fraud according to a report on NBC it is on the rise, Just be very careful, make sure you see the facts on how many patients were doing the injections, for how long, their results, & any side effects. Plus the sterile environment in which the vaccine was made. Always error on the side of caution!!

I know what all you go though I have a family with Auto immune disorder . I don`t feel it but I see it. He does pretty well but he makes sure he keeps his weight in check. eats well and strength trains along with cardio doctor said the strength training is what has kept him doing so well. because the disorder will break down your muscles and bone. strength training helps it not to do that. He also is on a lot of meds daily. now days AIDS that is what he has it like a cancer you go into remission or you don`t. he has lived with it 23yrs . He got Aids from a hospital was the first worker from a hospital to receive Aids. I don`t really understand the Jerne looked it up read some, I just know an auto immune that's what it is attacking your good cells. You are gonna get though it cause you will make sure you attack back.

Wow! That's over my head Sallie! I hope you keep me informed of all of your research you're going to be doing on the Internet! I'm really interested! That will be awesome if they can rebuild your immune system so it does not attack your body!
I hope you have a wonderful Friday! Hugs to you Sallie!

For sure, it's a good plan to run it past your Drs. I would wonder how large a study has been done to test this hypothesis, for how long, long term results??? side effects???

But information worth considering for sure!

Have a great weekend, my dear.

feel So glad you went and will be researching. As I was reading your post I remember that I have been waking up my thymus every morning when I get up. One of the alternative medical professionals we saw years ago showed us how to tap lightly with your fingers for about 45 seconds as your thymus becomes more sluggish as you age. We have been doing this for over 15 years as it has become second nature. Do not know if it works but it's worth the time if it does.

So, I randomly came across this blog, but am glad that I did. That's interesting. I'm brushing off my old Spanish skills to learn more from the website. I'm guessing that this is in the experimental stage .eg. not approved on a mass scale yet? Thanks for posting. :)
