So I received an email announcing that there will be a talk/seminar here in Ajijic, Mexico on Autoimmune disease and a doctor who is now trained in a new treatment. I will go and check it out but very leery of anyone who might say they can "cure" a chronic autoimmune. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. At least I might learn something. would be nice not to have to take the 3 meds that suppress my immune system so it doesn't attack my body. The crazy part about this autoimmune is that when I feel good I am good and leading a normal life. But when I get a "flare" for those that follow me you know it takes me totally down for the count and I simply can not do anything. So even if there is a way to fix your immune system it would be hard to tell if it works until you might get a flare.

I am good though for not falling for "gimmicks". But will check it out.

Hoping you all are having a good week.
Happy Thursday.

Smart to be careful but worth checking into. I too would be very leery of someone who claims they can cure auto immune disease.

It's good that you take things like that with a grain of salt. Be very careful!!!! God is the only one who could really cure you. That is the way I feel about my Meniere's Disease. Go to the seminar and see what they have to say. It might prove to be interesting. Good luck and God bless you!!!

I tend to be leery too but you have nothing to lose by going to listen. You will know whether or not it is legit and either way, you might learn something!

Maybe not a cure but you may be able to pick up some information that will help you. You can take note then do your research and discuss it with your doctor

Get the facts and go from there. You may learn something that is beneficial without being taken by false information.

Listen and learn, even if it is "about what NOT to do". And I am sure you know all about the latter. Still you have nothing to loose. At worst tell yourself it is entertainment.

It never hurts to check anything out. For some people whose disease was just getting started (when you should catch it and aggressively treat it), the new biologics were a miracle cure. One lady showed a photo of her badly swollen fingers and hands and how they looked after treatment. She was able to go back to full time work and live a normal, pain free life. They took the edge off my severest pain, but it was too little, too late, I had the disease for too long a time and the damages were already done.
Just check out his information online and with your own Doctors.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

It will be interesting to go and hear what they have to say. They may not have a "cure" but may be able to tell you about different coping mechanisms for when you have a flare up. It will also give you an opportunity to meet others with similar issues.

You're right . . . if a "cure" is claimed, you run! BUT on the other hand even if ALL the information doesn't fit for you, maybe bits and pieces will. Good luck.

I totally "get" what you mean that it takes you down for the count.

You never know what you may learn. However, I'm like you...a little leery. I think you should go and hear the doctor with an open mind. (I know you will.) Maybe there will be something that you can learn and/or use!

Good luck!

Worth a listen in case there are some new studies or treatments but you are right to go with a healthy dose of skepticism.

yes if the information or cure requires dollars I'd be leery too. Interested to hear what you find out when you go, keep us updated!

I think going into remission is entirely possible, even if there is no cure, reducing the amount of flares and duration etc is a worthwhile pursuit! My sister has been on a trial for a new MS drug and she's having to stop as her rates of relapse has gone up exponentially and she's suffering liver damage! It's a tricky business trying new things, but a search for things that helps is worth finding out about for sure!
