Getting the week kicked off right!

After many weeks of illnesses, vacations and other issues {mostly mine}, The Buddy and I finally got to walk today. Woo hoo! Mother Nature smiled upon me. The Weather Channel was saying yesterday the highs would be in the mid 80s and sunny. But I decided I would suck it up and walk anyway. Turned out it was only in the low 70s when we walked, and cloudy. Very perfect weather for a walk, especially for July 6th! We walked 23 minutes, and my legs were on FIRE by the time we were done. I think I walk a little faster with her than I do on my own, and also I think the slightly uneven terrain in the park was working my legs harder than at the community center. Whatever the case, I definitely felt that workout after it was over! It was a great feeling, though. I always feel so accomplished after a workout, and so much the better when I have good company for said workout!

Eating has been pretty good today. I had eggs with a whole wheat thin bagel and a smear of light cream cheese, and some watermelon, for breakfast. Lunch was Bourbon St Chicken with brown rice and veggies, and some salad. {The Bourbon St Chicken was SO good, and it was an easy slow cooker recipe. Thumbs up to that!} Dinner was a can of Light Italian Wedding Soup with some canned tomatoes mixed in, and a healthy frozen meal. I discovered that mixing tomatoes in the soup was really good, and gave me some extra bulk {and some extra veggies!}. Snack will probably be some berries with sugar free Cool Whip, and some kind of protein and maybe some popcorn or something. I haven't decided for sure.

Also, I think mayhap I have found the solution to my middle of the night eating. Again last night I had a slice of light whole wheat bread with a slice of reduced fat cheese and a glass of skim milk just before bed, and I didn't wake up and eat during the night. I woke up several times, but I didn't feel that desperately hungry, must-get-up-and-eat feeling I usually get. Even though I'm spending calories on the snack, it's WAY fewer than I would eat if I woke up and got something in the middle of the night. I don't wanna jump the gun and say I'm cured of my middle of the night eating, but so far so good. Thanks to all you wise people that told me to go for protein before bed. It really seems to be helping a lot!

Mostly it has been a quiet day around here. We took a quick trip to the library, and I got an iced coffee on the way home. {Splash of skim milk and Splenda, no syrup or anything.} Otherwise it's just been me and dh hanging out here together. Some reading, some chatting. Pretty quiet weekend.

Tomorrow is weigh in day. I know it's still TOM, and my weight could do any kind of crazy thing in the morning, but I am REALLY hoping to be under 260. I was at 260 even yesterday, so hopefully it will be down just a smidge tomorrow. If not, I won't let myself get too upset... but I am really hoping for it!

I'm also going to try to wake up half an hour earlier tomorrow. I sleep too much, it's a bad habit. I get bored when I get up too early and it's a long time til I can wake dh, but I'm going to try to get better at entertaining myself.

After I wake up, there will be at trip to the community center. I downloaded Spotify onto my phone today to see if it played better than it used to {on my last phone it cut out all the time}, and after playing 2 full songs, it seems to be playing fine. I found a fun 80s workout playlist to listen to. I think that will make my workout much nicer. I haven't been able to find anything that I was really in the mood to listen to recently, but this playlist has me pretty excited to go. Now that I can have Spotify on my phone, I suspect that will help a LOT in entertaining me through workouts.

My last goal for tomorrow is to cook a healthy dinner. I have everything planned out and all the ingredients handy, so it should be a non-issue.

And for now, it's quality magazine time while dh naps. Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

    Glad you and the buddy were able to walk! It is amazing what a difference a slightly different routine can do to muscles!! Also glad you found (fingers crossed) a solution to your night time eating!! emoticon

    Great start to a great week!!! emoticon emoticon Hope that snack before bedtime works again for you. I have been having the same bedtime snack since I got diagnosed. Half a toasted whole wheat bagel thin with some peanut butter. Works for me. Even on vacation. I even packed the whole wheat bagel thins with me when we went to Sweden and bought peanut butter while there but their peanut butter even though it was the same brand I use tasted more like the reduced fat peanut butter which I am NOT too crazy about. But oh the water over there was so good. One place we stayed had a water canister that had strawberries and kiwi in it and that gave it such great flavor. I keep meaning to do that here but never got around to it.

Still not at the gym yet but hopefully this week to get my membership to start going. Still trying to recover from paying my quarterly taxes so once I get this paycheck I think I can swing the membership fee. I will just have to try to figure out when I can go after my hubby has his hip surgery on the 22nd. Probably in the evening when my son is home from work at least until hubby can be up and around and driving. This should be interesting. he would not agree to put at least Menlo and Fasa in the kennel the week after he comes home (and that week my son and his girlfriend will be in Myrtle Beach on vacation. I was going to leave Indy home since he is so old and we don't have good luck with old dogs in the kennel (the two previous ones we had passed away in the kennel while we were on vacation). Menlo is old too at 12 but he doesn't quite know that he is that old so I would think he would be okay. But hubby would not hear of it. I think I will be a logistics expert when this is all over....getting the dogs outside while I get hubby out through the front door and into the car and then back inside to let them in. Every time my husband goes to the front door they all swarm after him thinking it is walk time but that is now my son's job until my husband is back on his feet.

    Way to go Cat. Great job on getting in your walk! It is so much more fun when you can walk with someone, the time really seems to go so much faster! I think that is a great idea to eat something before you go to bed if that keeps you from midnight snacking!
Tomorrow sounds like a great plan and you are doing great. I hope the scale moves in the right direction for you but keep on with that attitude that you are still getting healthier even if it doesnt!

    emoticon if you are still doing the calendar thing today including last night you deserve a emoticon for nutrition and a emoticon for exercise!!! You read at night to relax, in the morning have you tried reading to entertain yourself? I am glad the extra protein snack in the evening is working well. You may add a small bit of calories when you eat the protein snack, and first it IS good for your diabetes and two avoiding those binges in the night is great!!! Have a great healthy week!
