hi,i am back on computer, did you miss me?

Saturday, July 05, 2014

hi everyone, sorry it took so lone was longer in hospital than expected but am now in rehab since yesturday, couldnīt post yesturday as somehow my computer wouldnīt work.had op on friday the 20th(at last)operation went well but as usually i had respirtory problems during and after op so had to stay in the recovery room for twoo whole days before being brought to normal ward.was at first in a two bed ward till monday the 30th where i had to go for another very small op to put in what they call here a smerz cathetater, basically it just putting a couple of cathertaters in to the knee so that painkillers can go direct to the source so to speak as my knee wasnīt bending as far as it should be and the painkillers were to help me when they forced the knee to bend on this machine.only trouble is they put too much pain killers in at first and i lost total control of my foot ect.i couldnīt move it so they had to take off the painkillers to see if the numbness was due to pain killers or a nerve being damaged in the op,luckily it was only because of the painkillers but that had me the most scared of all this as even after the knee replacement i could move my foot.painfully but i could move it.boy was i glad of the pain killers as despite them it was still painfull.i was put on this machine which basically moves your leg into a bend every minute or two six times a day an hour at a time.i am sure anyone without knee problems would have aching legs when doing the eqiverlent of walking up stairs 6 hours aday so you can imagine my pain, lol.anyway even though i only got to 85%bend and you should have at least 90% bend they sent me to rehab(guess they wanted rid of me lol)so i arrived in rehab yesturday.would have posted but for somereason computer wasnīt working yesturday.the worse thing about the smerz cathater was that i was bed ridden and had to use the bed pan etc.that i find demoroliseing.that and it was (still is)extreme painful but i m so glad i did it.

rehab was very exhursting yesturday as there are so many corridors etc.and after lying down all the time made it doubly tiring(got the smerz cathater and the stitches out of my knee out yesturday)we have to go down to the resturant for our meals(would you believe the resturant has a dress code, lol)it is like a hotel resturant and the food and service is very good.only trouble here is you have to pay for the water here in the hospital it was free.the rooms are for 1 which is very nice .it is very small but has a nice country charm.has sibgle bad with bedside table a normal table with two semi comfortable chairs,a small but adicate bathroom and plenty of storage place.has a nice little balcony with red begonias in a windowbox.a suberp view of the moutains.been given the theraphy workout plan and looks very intensive but at least the have put me down for swimming 3 times a week.would be better if more but beggers canīt be choosers as they say.
so how are you all my friends doing?i missed you all so much i can tell you.if i missed something important in you life let us know as it will be a while before i catch up as i had over 1.000 emails waiting for me.if you sent me goodies etc i thank you from the bottom of my heart i will try and get round to replying individually but canīt promise.thank you once again for taking the time to read this blog.take care and keep smiling, love karen

glad you told how you are doing. I can not say I know how extended periods of hospital stays are these days. But as a young adult/teenager you lose all dignity ie no privacy at all. I am just glad at least I had my own room/. I've seen patients sharing rooms eekkkkk!

So glad you were able to finally go through with the operation, as I know it kept getting put off. Rehab may be slow but know you will listen to the doctor and do what is best. When will your lovely family be back home? So they can help you. Take care and get all the rest you can. You work way too hard when you're "up and running". emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon m emoticon m emoticon m
