The 4t of July
Friday, July 04, 2014
I will recall on of my favorite memories of the 4th of July. It is a bit fuzzy in my head since it was about 45 years ago. When I was young only my Mom's mother was my only living Grandparent. My Dad's Mom died when he was in his twenties before he met and married our Mom. His Dad and my Mom's Dad both died before I was born. My grandma Shultz (Elizabeth) and her sister my Great-Aunt Helen, my Mom, my Dad, my sister Joyce and my bother Tom spent the Holiday at our Communitty Park, Moon Park. Both my brother and I played baseball games. On my team I playrd second baseman and my brother was the pitcher on his team. Then there was a huge picinic for our communitty spread out over three different pavilions throughout the park. Also I recall swinging on swings with my older sister and her spinning me and others on an about six foot wheel with bars for us to hold onto and her to turn it with. It was fun and I never, ever became dizzy no matter how hard she tried to get the wheel moving!
Then in the evening fireworks!!! My dad had two blankets and all of us, grandma Shultz, great-aunt Helen, Mom, Dad, Joyce my sister, Tom my brother and myself would find a spot on a hill and soon enjoy the fireworks. Then we would come home and Joyce, Tom and I would run around our front yard with sparkerlers while the adults watched!
I just heard a loud firecracker! HAPPY FORTH OF JULY!!! I HOPE YOU ALL WERE SAFE AND ENJOYED THE CELEBRATION OF THIS AMAZING, WONDERFUL, FREE NATION, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!
