My Helena has an American momma and a Canadian daddy. She is American born. July 1 is Canada Day and July 4 is Independence Day in the US. Living in Detroit, I am on the only land spot that is north of Canada. Windsor, Ontario is south of me. The two cities have celebrated together all week for years. Many years, the fireworks over the Detroit River were a joint effort between the two cities.
Helena is one week old today. (As of 9:24 pm). So, I get to say Happy Birthday to her, to my country and to the country of her daddy. I plan on taking advantage of this, especially as she gets older. I see a whole week from June 27-July 4 each year being spent doing lots of fun things. Beaches, zoos, carnivals, fireworks, picnics, etc. here we come!
A P.S. - I started a change container a few months back. This is my "Go to Disneyland with Granddaughter" fund. I've only got $40 so far, but I know it will be a few years before this happens. I want her to remember.
I have an "extra" daughter, Heather who is both my girls' best friend. They all have been inseparable for close to 25 years. She had her daughter, Alexis, last August 6. I'm so glad that Sherry also had a daughter. I can see me doing so many things with the two of them. I mentioned to Heather the Disney trip. I so hope that they come with us.
Does anyone suggest an age at which a child should go?
