July Goals

The month of June came to a close and with it came the closing on my mother's house. It was bittersweet! My FB post was simply BYE with a picture of the house.


((The next section is kind of cathartic for me so you can skip to the end to read of my goals.))

I will always have the memories as many of my friends have reminded me. Early ones: playing in the yard with my brother and cousin, family gatherings, walking my cat, picking veggies with my Dad in the garden.

Later cutting the lawn, gardening with my mother, and chatting at the fence with the neighbors next door. Posing at the front door for my wedding photos and leaving through that door.

Much later visiting my mother, now a widow, having tea and watching the Red Sox games.
Taking care of her, comforting her, crying with her.

Most recently the bad memories. The day that my Mom left the house (her home for the past 60 yrs) never to return. Cleaning out her house. Feeling weird going through her personal things. Mementos she had saved from my Dad in their early years. Horribly hard.

With all that behind me, I am pushing forward. Taking control of my life. Prioritizing and just doing it.

This past week my back has been feeling better and I have returned to my trainer. I told him what was going on and he added in some stretching for my hamstrings and back. I am trying to improve on my exercise in general. Even before I had the back issue, I had slacked off on the intensity of my workouts. I was taking the easy way out. One good session a week isn't going to make a lot of difference on the scale.
I started on Sunday and did a good workout. Lots of calories burned. Tuesday was the training session. Today was kickboxing and tomorrow strength training and core is on the schedule.
I have been hitting my step goal too. Trying to stay ahead of one of my friends. emoticon '

Anyway, after that long-winded explanation, here are my goals:

45 minutes of cardio a day (5x week)
ST (3x week)
Me time (10 mins a day)
Declutter/organize (1 hour week) Need to do more but will start with this.

    That had to be extra hard selling your childhood home....I hadn't realized that it was the same house where you had grown up when you talked about selling it. (((hugs)))

Your July goals sound very reasonable. I think you can do it!

I think it's great that you are in competition with your friend on steps.....anything to encourage more movement!

    Awesome goals. You can do it. emoticon I know how you feel about the house. I went through the same thing with my mother. I tried giving the house life once again when we had the B'nai Mitzvah party there for my kids. Just another thing my siblings ruined, but my mom was so happy to have all the people there and the piano player playing. I will never regret it.

We will get back on track together!
