button complaint

Thursday, July 03, 2014

I have sewn a couple of blouses recently, with unspectacular results. Also, I was watching for a sale of my favorite shirt - CJ Banks never-iron, and that time rolled around. I also had free shipping, and an extra 15%off.

I ordered five shirts and a jacket - all for nearly Wal-Mart prices. I rarely buy clothes, but last time I ordered online, it was from CJ Banks, and I was quite pleased. The clothes were good quality, on sale, and fit well.

This time, the blouses (shirts Whatever) fit fine, are just as advertised, and are beautiful. HOWEVER, as I was hanging them up, one button came off, and when I tried one on, another button pulled right off. I had to replace two buttons before ever wearing a shirt! Also, the dark brown button spare had a huge light-colored gouge in it.

I always sew the extra buttons into the side seam, because who can find that little envelope with one button in it when you need it? Or else, I have thrown away the little envelopes and dumped all the buttons into my button jar, and would take forever to dig it out. So I was already planning on sewing on some buttons, but hey people! Not good quality here!

I usually just use a safety pin and forget that I actually know how to sew on a button.

Yeah, I always save the buttons when I throw away a shirt. I have more buttons than I will ever use. But yet, there is a discount fabric store in Springfield MO that has huge gallon bags full (FULL!) of shirt buttons, and I WANT them...

When things like that happen that quickly, i call the companies customer service dept and let them know their quality control is bad and they shold investigate

It seems like on most clothes these days, they don't have the buttons sewn on as well as they use too. I always try to remember to check to make sure they are sewn on securely before I wear a new shirt with buttons.

I keep all my spare buttons in a box in my dresser drawer. I have quite a collection now; I'm sure for about half of those buttons I no longer have the original shirts they went with. lol.
