Why Fitness Coaching?

I grew up very active. I tried every sport {my poor parents}. Volleyball, basketball, softball, and love the outdoors. My family taught me once you start something to always finish it. And with that I have to work hard in life and I will SUCCEED! Being a typical teenager, I did go through a rebellious stage, and fell into a depression (which runs in my family by the way) and eventually grew out of it. I struggled with depression from time to time. I love my dad more than anything and we talk on a regular basis. He has always been there for me. Same goes for my mom. I love her to pieces. Although I was active, I had a HORRIBLE diet. I ate anything quick, easy, from a box, and drank Mt. Dew and Pepsi…..never drank water unless I had to basically at ballgames and practice.

Then college came…..I went to play fast pitch softball on scholarship. I worked out hard. My coach was a drill sergeant. If I could handle everyday practices with her, I could handle anything. We lifted weights, ran miles, did agilities, and practiced all in one day. I gained so much muscle but I stayed the same weight because I wasn’t eating right. I ate Taco Bell drive through and McDonalds and basically whatever I burned in calories I would eat. I wasn’t knowledgeable in the area of healthy eating habits. I grew up eating beans and fry bread.
After two years of playing, I decided to concentrate more on my education and study accounting. After I graduated I got married and wanted to start a family. A year later my first daughter was born. I gained 42 pounds with her and didn’t watch what I ate. I was so frustrated because I couldn’t get the weight off. So I went to a diet doctor. Got on diet pills and lost the baby weight and then some. I basically didn’t eat at all and wasn’t eating well when I did. When I couldn’t take the pills anymore, I gradually started eating more and gaining weight again. I fluctuated for a while and one New Year’s decided to do Boot camp and I did for a month, got up early before work but got tired of doing it and I wasn’t seeing results I wanted. Again I wasn’t changing my eating habits either. I basically quit exercising. Four years later, my husband and I decided to extend our family. While I was pregnant, I decided I wanted to take better care of myself this pregnancy and eat better. I had found this beach body coach and watched her for a YEAR…..She was a mother and was working out and eating better every day! While pregnant I couldn’t wait until I could start a beachbody program. I had my eye on T25 because it was only 25 minutes. And having 2 kids at home, it was just too hard for me to go to the gym. My husband works all the time and didn’t want to be away from kids than I already am. After I had my second child and this was my 2nd C-SECTION….I had gained 27 pounds. After two months, I had only lost 10 pounds and hit a plateau. WHAT?? I thought to myself. They say it is harder after the second one and I agree. I started diet pills again and lost about 10 pounds then my body got use to them and hit another plateau. After watching Dara, beachbody coach, I decided then I needed to make a change. I ordered T25 and started my workouts. With the support and help from her was what I needed. I started eating clean, drinking Shakeology, and working out consistently, and I became addicted to how amazing I felt. Shakeology has helped curb my appetitie, reduce my junk food cravings, gives me energy, and honestly, my depression is gone. I haven't been depressed since I started Shakeology. I was Pepsi free for longer than I’ve ever been in my life and now I got killer stomach aches when I eat sugar and fried foods {when before my stomach could handle just about ANY amount of sugar and fried foods I put into it}.
I’ve worked LONG and HARD to get my Masters degree in accounting. I have 2 jobs that I love, accounting, and medical biller. I enjoy going to work and my coworkers. So why on earth would I pursue fitness coaching if I already have 2 jobs that I enjoy? Because…..I was already coaching without even knowing it. I was making my family and friends meal plans, workout routines, sharing recipes all the time, texting some of them daily to keep them on track. I love what I do and want to help others reach their health and fitness goals. I love seeing the changes in people’s lives they make when they commit to changing for their health and seeing them happier, healthier, in shape, and loving every minute of it. So this is why I am a fitness coach.

    Welcome to SparkPeople. We are all here for the same reason, no matter what our personal story is. We are here to help each other to get to that healthy point we want to be in our lives. It is not going to be easy, but it is attainable. I have found that changing things up is the way to start weight loss. Make small goals and they will lead to big successes.
