Feeling Fat and Ugly

Wednesday, July 02, 2014

Well today is like most days.... sitting here at work... not much to do as this is our slow season.... surrounded by co-workers who are into working out, doing "walks", etc... and here I am... the fat cow who can't seem to stop shoveling in the food.... emoticon

For some reason my new doctor won't give me a referral to a nutritionist even though I've told them that in the past it was with a nutritionist's guidance that I had lost the most weight... of course, I've since gained it back and then some...

In the meantime I really could use a buddy or two to help keep me accountable and will listen when I need to talk (even if I'm a total downer).... my family can/will only help so much...

So if anyone reads this and wants to try to help please feel free to contact me

    1 Corinthians 10:13
"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
You can be successful!

Welcome to SparkPeople. We are all here for the same reason, no matter what our personal story is. We are here to help each other to get to that healthy point we want to be in our lives. It is not going to be easy, but it is attainable. I have found that changing things up is the way to start weight loss. Make small goals and they will lead to big successes. one of the first steps to success is to have respect for yourself and your body. You have to be goood with where you are at. If you have been to a NUTin the past, just start doing what they told you in the past. Use the many resources online here, and start making small goals. It worked for me, although I still have a long ways to go, I am 1/2 way there and I did it! And you can too! Welcome and get active on this site. emoticon

Thanks for all the encouraging words... It's just one of those days I looked in the mirror this morning and hated what I saw... My problem is that I know what I should be doing but I keep giving in and eating what I shouldn't....

The new Affordable Care Act would pay for the nutritionist and my HMO does require the referral.... I think my new doctor is reluctant because I am new to them... I guess they want to see what I can and can't do on my own....

I enjoyed the one-on-one I had with my past nutritionist.... I think that is what I need to stay accountable.... I've tried Weight Watchers but just doing the weigh-in and meetings didn't keep me accountable... the nutritionist will go over everything I ate, tell me the good and the bad, make suggestions, etc....

And although it's not on my Page I am 100+ lbs overweight, a Type-2 diabetic, have high blood pressure, and bad cholesterol/triglycerides... you would think all that would be motivation enough....

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling bad. Please don't forget that everyone is worthy and that your life is valuable for a reason that even you yourself might never know. Always be on the lookout for what your mission might be. It doesn't matter what age, size, weight, or shape you are. You are more important than you realize, and more beautiful (and I'm not talking about your looks, which I have no way of judging). I mean you are most likely beautiful on the inside, but something has made you forget your own beauty. I really hope that the pain you express in this blog will soon subside and that you can find peace.

Do you need a referral to a nutritionist (I'm assuming you may need one due to insurance)? Sometimes, your insurance will allow you to go directly without a referral to specialists. Does your insurance have a wellness program? That may also be the way to get the assistance that you are looking for. But you may want to switch doctors, if you aren't having your concerns addressed like you would like. Was there a reason for the denial? What little information that you have on your Spark page indicates that you don't have an extreme amount weight to lose (relatively speaking - all journeys are different) - are these all necessary pounds or vanity pounds? (I've been at a healthy weight for awhile. The rest of my journey was admittedly vanity pounds, and what little that I am working on now is totally for vanity and fitness.)

Spark has a lot of nutrition resources. Are you taking advantage of them? Are you tracking your food? Are you getting enough fruits and veggies? Do you remember what your nutritionist advised? Go back to what worked!

Why aren't you going for a walk? If it's slow at work or I need to get away, I use my "lunch" to go take a walk around the building. It hasn't always been the fastest walk or probably the prettiest, but it's activity and usually makes me feel better.

We've all felt fat/ugly and overwhelmed, but you can continue to feel that way, or you can make changes. Small changes like drinking more what, 10 daily fitness minutes, eating 5 servings of veggies/fruit and the like can add up and make big differences.

Please stop with all this negativity that you are giving yourself. You deserve more than that.

I mention self love in my blog and I recommend you start thinking of yourself as more valuable than that and then it will be easier to have long term weight loss and improved health.

You're worth it!

Don't put yourself down. We all have felt like that. I have. But we look at family and friends who love us and are able to help us with what is going on. The two in my profile pic is of my youngest niece Heather and her daughter Katelynn. Those are two of many people in my life that I want to live to see grow up. I know that your family can too. Mine does.
