This morning was the Canada D'Eh 5K in Amherstburg, Ontario. It was a nice morning.
We met up with Hubby's cousin before the start.
And there they go.
I was fortunate to meet up with a friend. Her husband is a runner. This was Susan's first 5K. The time went quickly as we walked and chatted.
My number and medal. When we registered, we could choose which Canadian we thought should be on the medal. This year's choice is Terry Fox.
"In 1980, with one leg having been amputated, he embarked on a cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Although the spread of his cancer eventually forced him to end his quest after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 mi), and ultimately cost him his life, his efforts resulted in a lasting, worldwide legacy."
The first place runner finished in 16:43. My walking time: 51:56. That is an improvement over my time in my first 5K one year ago. I am happy.
