Today has been absolutely awesome. First of all, I slept better than normal last night. I'd say I had at least 1 stretch of 3 hours without waking, and that's almost unheard of for me. I didn't even wake up and eat in the middle of the night.
That definitely got my day started off on the right foot. I felt so much better this morning than I did Friday and Saturday. My friend calls it the "cracked out" feeling when you don't sleep well, and that describes it pretty aptly. Or you could go with simple "crap", cause that describes it pretty well also. I think, though, having those two days of feeling so crummy made me appreciate feeling normal much more!
I had a healthy breakfast of light whole wheat toast with 2 veggie sausage patties. After I ate and drank some caffeine to get me going, I got up and went to the community center. Today's workout was SO much better than the last time I was there. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it, exactly, but it wasn't sheer torture with every step. I walked 21 minutes and did 5 minutes on the recumbent bike. I listened to SparkPeople Radio and the time went by pretty quickly, I'm happy to say.
The only downside to the excursion was the heat and humidity outside. It was terrible. So I came home and hopped right in for a cool shower, which felt amazing. I felt even more energized and awesome after my shower. It was good, good stuff.
For lunch, I made bbq chicken, fresh green beans and mashed potatoes. I ate a reasonable portion of potatoes, thereby controlling my carbs. I filled up mostly on green beans and a salad. After we ate, we needed to run to the library and the grocery store. I stopped at Starbucks and treated myself to an iced coffee with a splash of skim milk and Splenda. Virtually no calories, and it was so good. We headed to the store after that and picked up a few things, namely some fresh fruit and veggies. Also I got an Amy's Light and Lean Italian Veggie pizza, which is what I had for dinner, along with some cauliflower, tomatoes, carrots and hummus. And water. Between the water I drank while working out, and the water I have drank otherwise, I'm at about 14 glasses of water today.
The only thing I haven't had on the healthy list today is some fruit. I was out of fresh fruit this morning, so I didn't have any for breakfast. I'm gonna have some melon and cottage cheese and maybe some popcorn for snack in a little while. I've had plenty of veggies, and I'll get in 1 serving of fruit. Not bad for the day, I say.
Also, I am ready to make the definitive statement that Bydureon works. It's an injectable diabetes drug that is supposed to help with appetite control and blood sugar numbers. The injection is taken once weekly, and I took my third one last night. Yesterday I could not get enough food, but today my appetite has been MUCH calmer. I attribute that to getting the Bydureon back in my system full force. My blood sugar readings have been better too.
All in all, it has been a good day. I'm well aware, though, that the hardest part of the day is yet to come. It's night, in particular the middle of the night, that are roughest. But I'm going into it with motivation and determination to NOT get myself off track. I know it will be a battle, but I'm feeling tough tonight.
I'm also determined to make tomorrow as good as today was. I'm going to the community center again for a workout, as well as cooking a healthy dinner.
For now it's time to relax with a magazine and wait for bedtime. Hopefully my brain will cooperate and let me get some rest tonight. Hope everyone had a fabulous Monday!
