The saga began last Friday. I left work early with a slight cough. I didn’t feel too bad, just didn’t want to be in close proximity to my co-workers in a quiet environment like that. I took work home and dug in. An hour later…. THE SNEEZE. You know the one, the one that immediately tells you it’s gonna be a bad day.
It was all downhill from there. I sat up all night with tissue after tissue, eyes tearing, coughing worse, no sleep to be had. Knowing there would be no way I’d get to see my doc on a Saturday, I went to a nearby immediate care clinic. After a quick check of my ears, nose, throat and chest, the nurse practioner diagnosed me with “allergic rhinitis (hayfever)”. She instructed me to take an over-the-counter allergy med, run the humidifier, lots of fluids and that will be $80. SERIOUSLY?!
Sunday was worse, Monday was awful and I can’t begin to tell you the amount of crap I ate. I should be a walking Coke can with a tostitos skirt, Oreo shoes and a pizza purse. That’s how I get with any type of head cold symptoms. This was also the day the 30-day plank challenge ended. I worked up to a 2 ½ minute plank. Whodathunkit?!
Tuesday I was feeling so-so enough to go back to work to avoid falling further behind in my projects. I had to be off Wednesday to take my dad to the VA for his hearing aids. YAY! I was so happy for him. You should have seen his face when we walked outside. Best part of my week!
Wednesday afternoon I got to see my doctor who was shocked that I was diagnosed with hay fever which doesn’t start till August. He prescribed Z-pac (five day antibiotic that works for ten days) for a sinus infection.
Today is Friday and I’m just now starting to feel normal. I stepped on the scale yesterday to see what condition my condition was in and found I have gained three pounds, putting me over my goal weight for the first time in over a year and a half. I am a Sparker and Sparkers do not stress over a number on a scale, we focus on healthy eating and activity and that’s what I’m doing.
Yesterday I registered for a dog-walking challenge on my MapMyFitness app. I walk my lab every day, twice on the weekends so that will be easy. Will I wait for July 1st to start my planks again? Oh nay nay. I did a 1-minute plank last night. Funny how hard that used to be but how easy it felt last night after trembling through a 2 ½ minute plank!
Yesterday I pulled four tomatoes from my tomato plant. YAY! A nice caprese salad is calling my name after work. A great end to a lousy week.
