Go USA!! emoticon

I never cared about sports, but something sparked an interest when I watched the end of the World Cup between Portugal and USA. We had it made but in the last seconds Portugal kicked a point.

I don't understand the game so still learning. I noticed that they wear the same color shoes on each team, yellow, orange. Not just one team wear one color. I guess shoes don't count in color.

I watched off and on the game with France and switched to see some of the one with Switzerland. I missed when Switzerland got a point so is it one point for getting the ball in the net? Also, they don't do a play off if it's a tie. USA might still go on if we lose or tie. So much to learn.

It is raining so I wonder if they will play. I'll miss most of the tame since we have to run out and go to a dental appt for DH.

Any tips on how the game is played would be helpful.

Soccer rocks! I don't really know the rules regarding fouls, corner kicks, and other stuff like that. But I do like the suspense of the game...I find myself screaming GOAL like a madman when we score though! I have to admit, I didn't expect the US to even get as far as they have because of the teams that they have played. I am a big Argentina fan!!! Will be watching the game on Tuesday! Go USA!

I used to know the rules for football (which is what you are calling soccer), but things changed a bit, when I wasn't looking. And, because I have no interest, even if any of our teams get through to the World Cup, I haven't bothered catching up at all.

All I can say is that I agree with a number of other folk over here in our annoyance at the TV schedules being so mucked around - and it's not just 1 channel.
However, I keep trying to remember that the World Cup is only every 4years.

I have the Commonwealth Games to look forward to in a few more weeks.

I watch soccer when the grand children play. It is a lot like football, US style, but you can't use you hands so you kick the ball instead of throwing it. I'm sure someone that know professional soccer will have more to say, but that is the bottom line.
