Really, how much can parking a little farther out do for one? I don't know, but I know that every little bit of movement "extra" I do helps me along with my healthy lifestyle goals. So, today, when I wheeled into the mall parking lot to run an errand, I passed up the two handicapped parking spots - which I have a permit to park in - and I parked near the end of the row. Now, I'm not very fast getting from the car to the door of the mall, but at least I was moving. And, yes, my feet and legs hurt a little more when I walk a little more, but in some ways the pain is a reminder that I do still have my mobility. I was so excited to upload my steps from my Spark Activity tracker when I got home. Between my trip to the mall and my movement in my classroom today, I ended up with almost 4,000 steps before I even do my evening workout on my recumbent bike. That's exciting stuff because I know those small steps add up in the long run!
