Hey, quick surprise visit!

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

Made it safe and sound to PEI about 9pm last nite. And we're on our way to hospital with my mom, but we've stopped to get her car inspected, and they have tea and internet here.

Hope all are well. Yes, Patty, make sure you give me lots of notice of the trip to Halifax, so I can arrange to be there...hope it's not between Aug. 19 and 29 though, that's when my dd is home. No baby yet? Getting close

Went to class yesterday and then left. Asked prof how long the chapter we were writing to pretend add to the Book Of Negroes and he said, yours can be as long as you want, You can write a book. I don't think I made myself very popular with him when I said I want my mark before I surrender his book manuscript that I have been editing back to him, cuz I am finding an awful lots of mistakes, punctuation, grammar and typos, though he says it's been edited by about 6 people already? Hmm? Someone not doing their job. How do I get as job as an editor? Get out my red pencil, how fun!!!

Well, wanna check my mail so stopped to say Hi and see who missed me..Haha... Beautiful warm weather here, lots of big field and plowed fields of red soil.

    I always miss ya! emoticon

Editing sounds like fun work. I read every night and it is quite often that I find typos in books that I am reading. It always shocks me for some reason. Like why wasn't 'that' caught by some editor. Still, I can read my own writing (blogs and what nots) and catch plenty of my own mistakes .....BUT .... only AFTER I have already posted them. Guess it's true, we sometimes see what we think we are supposed to be seeing even when it isn't there.

I started out by looking over my girls' homework. Then in college, we looked over each other's work. I took a copy-editing class and the teacher contacted the engineering teacher. We got to edit the students' resumes and compile them into a book. She then contacted a local magazine and we edited those stories. I got hired after the class was over. I loved it. I worked out of my home for them until it went out of business last year. Contact a bunch of magazines and newspapers and I'm sure someone will hire you.

No baby yet. Test run on Sunday, though. We thought she might have been leaking. We know the plug is gone and her original due date is today. Now it's next Tuesday. Sarah was so afraid she'd miss it she booked a flight on Sunday and came up.
