Jeff Galloway's Presentation

Monday, June 16, 2014

Last eve I attended a Jeff Galloway presentation. He is a great speaker and I found it fascinating to hear about his efforts to qualify for the Boston Marathon after 10 years of easy running with no time goals. That he qualified by 6 seconds in Florida at the Space Coast marathon, running intervals of 30 second run/15 seconds walk, is just great. And the experience of running Boston this year was one he did not want to miss. He makes a persuasive argument for the run-walk-run method.

Here's a picture of the members of our Galloway group who attended last night. I'm the second from the right in the back row or the 5th head from the right. Jeff is near the middle in a black shirt with "JG 2014 13.1" advertising his new half marathon in Atlanta in December:

I'm running this eve at 6:30 pm at the lake with several of these runners. Hubby is on an all liquid diet today in prep for his surgery tomorrow, so I don't have to worry about timing supper. I am hoping hubby will bring the dog, sit by the lake, and chill a bit so we both face tomorrow refreshed.

Good luck to DH tomorrow. Will say a prayer for him as I walk.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time at your presentation. That is an interesting idea of run-walk-run-walk, etc. Will have to try that.

Have I mentioned I'm jealous of your being in the same State, even more so now that you've met the man and heard him speak! Happy for you... if ANYTHING makes me move away from here it would be things like that! emoticon

I so would have liked to hear him speak. I've seen videos and his website, but to see him in person would be divine. I run/walk/run, but those intervals of 30/15 are killers! Something to work towards. I hope your husband sails thru his surgery in the morning. Take care ;-).

Good Luck tomorrow. Let us know how the surgery goes. It is amazing to think you can run an entire marathon at that interval...would seem like a lot of shifting gears.... not sure that would work for me...

That is so exciting! I saw him speak at the Disney Neverland/Tinkerbell Race Expo. I read a lot of things he writes as well. An inspiration.

So cool that your running group went. All the best for your hubby's surgery and recovery.
