Two Week Deadline

Thursday, June 12, 2014

I made a pact with myself. I'll do my best to eat healthy and mindfully, but since November of 2013 I'm not tracking my food any more. I tracked for 5 full years and credit tracking with enabling me to lose weight and keep it off. But now I'm trying to learn to listen to my body and eat normally. My pact dictates that if I'm over my target average weight, I get two weeks to cut back to get it back or return to tracking.

I'm trying to average no more than 132. A range of 129-134 is acceptable, but staying at 134 is not okay with me.

June 12th was the deadline I set two weeks ago when I was over. Yesterday I was just .2 pounds over my target of 132 and I briefly considered whether I would extend my deadline. But, I didn't have to. This morning I weighed 131.8.

What a victory!!

PS Once I really have this maintaining without tracking down comfortably, I am going to work on paying less attention to the scale and weighing far less often.

Great! But, let's face it: if the price of maintaining that wonderful weight loss is regular tracking of intake, it's a small price to pay. So, congrats and best wishes, but don't fear the tracker or see it as a punisher; it is your friend! emoticon

I'm trying to get there. I still track everyday and I still yo-yo the same 2-3 lbs. The problem with yo-yoing is that I still haven't gotten to where I truly think I want to be. Still have to listen to my body. Congratulations to you!

I agree with OKM. You are the trailblazer. We all want to see how this works out for when we get there. In sports there are a lot of great players, but they don't necessarily know what they do to be good- they couldn't teach you. You are very good at articulating what you are doing and thinking. Everybody will be a bit different, of course , but you provide a very good example for the rest of us.

emoticon Here's to making it to "normal" eating, listening to your body, and maintaining without tracking. I am in complete and total AWE. If you can do it, maybe someday there's hope for me. emoticon
