Active Days

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

Enjoyed a good more-than-an-hour elliptical workout at the YMCA yesterday. A lot of it I did at 180 to 190 strides per minute, so I was moving. I didn't have kids yesterday, but I had run the day before with friends, so I didn't want the impact of a run two days in a row.

Today, Gwen and I took Natalie to gymnastic camp at the Y. We played on the playground and had snack before she went to the nursery. Then I did 5 miles on the treadmill. I ran 2 miles @ 5.5 mph, approximately my half marathon pace. I also did four quarter mile repeats, two around my 5K best time (6.7mph and 6.8mph) and two faster than I've ever run a race (7mph and 7.2 mph; 7.2 mph = 8:20 minutes per mile). I walked the rest. I felt strong and enjoyed the workout. Gwen and I played more outside before we came home for a healthy lunch.

I weighed 132.2 this morning, just .2 over my target. I had 2 weeks -- until tomorrow -- to get back down to 132 or start tracking again. Don't think I'll need to. Again, feeling strong!

Tomorrow will be dancing with Old Dad; his surgery will be Tuesday the 17th, so I'm hoping this dance date will be special. I'm sure we'll go out to lunch, but I can do that without upsetting the scale if I'm careful.

Friday I've promised Gwen I will take her swimming at the Y. Right now she wants to play in the plastic pool, but we are waiting for the rain and thunder (must be lightning, but I didn't see it) to pass.

Saturday will be my Galloway group run and in two weeks my next race, the 19th Annual Watermelon Sunrise 5K, race two!!

The greatest thing, is not that you lost the weight you wanted to lose, but also that you gained the confidence in yourself to do it without tracking.

You are emoticon
