~ Day 10 & update ~

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

... so it's been a few days since my last blog and I have changed some things.

As you know I have been following the Chris Kresser's Personal Paleo Code reset (PPC). The purpose of this reset was to eliminate foods that might be considered inflammatory, such as caffeine & dairy for 30 days and then slowly reintroduce them back into my diet and watch for any signs of inflammation, i.e., indigestion, bloating, etc. I also gave up sugar, equal and Splenda; I now use stevia drops in my tea and I no longer drink coffee. I am not saying that I will never drink another cup, but I know that I will never, ever drink it daily. I am aiming for 2X's month, when my son & I go grocery shopping and have breakfast at Dunkin Donuts... I like that ritual with my son emoticon

... anyway, so far I have added the following foods back in:

- Kerry Gold (grass fed butter)
- Kerry Gold cheese
- new potatoes

I want to add sour cream and eventually Greek yogurt back in... slowly. But the main focus for my meals will be to eat:

- moderately high healthy fats (... olive oil, coconut oil, red palm oil, etc.)
- moderate protein
- loads of veggies
- moderate fruit
- small amounts of starch

My week may look something like this:

M: No carbs (as in no starchy carbs)
T: Low carb
W: Moderate carb
TH: No carbs
Fri: Low Carb
Sat: Higher carb
Sun: No carb

Sounds like a great plan! I like the no-low-moderate. I usually just try no or low. I think your plan sounds great!

Hoping the carb cycle works well for you. Seems like quite a few people like this type of plan.

Great plan! I love that you are using coffee as a treat and something that you enjoy in moderation when you are with your son! Such a nice way to enjoy caffiene! :)

I haven't done this much change, but I have done a few of them. Mine turned out to be some dairy and most gluten grains. I usually break down every few months and then here it comes.

I applaud you for being so strict and doing such a wonderful job with your diet. Here's to many days of Happy Knees and Great Exercise.

One of my dear friends found that dairy, at least for her, was indeed an inflammatory product. As soon as she limited her dairy, her knee pain reduced considerably. Hope this works for you.
