Perfect Day- Disagreement Practice

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

Since I usually volunteer to sort books at the Friends of the Library on Tuesdays, I always look forward to getting out and enjoying the intellectual stimulation that friends (and especially friends who love books) provide. As varied as our backgrounds and tastes run, we all are genuinely involved with each other, and usually don't back down to challenges that come our way. In other words, it is because we know that we care, that we can dare to disagree with one another.

Even so, I'd much rather be sympathetic than antagonistic (if I could just remember to keep my mouth shut, I would do much better)... and I'll always be closer to people I'm in harmony with.

But it's always good practice .... in getting along.... and I'm not the only one who is a better person because of it.

Collaboration is a wonderful thing while agreeing to disagree, isn't it?

Your volunteerism is inspiring. Thanks for sharing your day with me.

Very nice. I used to be so patient, so good at keeping my mouth shut. But I've been through a lot of life, and it is getting more and more difficult. I guess I'm too busy desiring some compassion and understanding as opposed to always having been the sounding board with understanding...Horrible, aren't I. (Although I do think my parents were grateful-my having had three older brothers.) And the sad part is, I think part of the reason I used to keep so quiet with patience, is that I hate conflict so very much...knots me up inside and gives me lower self esteem. It could be a vicious cycle,...say a few words to the Boss for me on this one, would you please?

I wonder which is worse, the disagreement with others, or the disagreement with self? Alas, what revelations made manifest..our own battle of good and evil?
Thanks for a wonderful blog!
