I Love Golf!

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

I love golf! I'm having so much fun since we joined a country club! I'm golfing in a Ladies Niners group once per week, but it is not enough. My husband and I are playing on the weekends, but I'm always looking for other ladies to play golf during the week! I really like playing 9 holes right now because I'm pretty tired after pushing my clubs and walking the course for 2 hours, plus the 45 minute warm up before I go out. I've been using the "Lose It" app to keep track of my calories and I burn around 500 calories for walking 9 holes and range time. I just feel really "good-tired" after golfing and I enjoy my food more. I also sleep a lot better when I have been active during the day. Even after applying 30 sunscreen, I still come off the course pretty tan and I like it! I'm very motivated for my weight to drop down, but I have to say it feels great golfing and getting a tan!

I am with you! I love golf. I am lucky that the women in my club are very active and organized. I usually play 4-5 times a week. Our league is an 18 hole league. I walk unless it is very hot. My course is very walkable and I don't have any trouble walking 18 holes several days in a row. I do feel good when my Fitbit buzzes me to say I have my 10,000 steps in!
I joined my club 3 years ago and every summer I have more and more people that I can play with. League really helps with that.

Love to play and understand your enthusiasm for the sport. Friends and I went to the US Open in Pine Hurst today. It was hot and very dusty. We were able to see players getting in their practice and then watched several play their rounds. The course was such a big disappointment though. The course has been restored to conditions when it was designed, so, there is lots of rough, greens that are shaped to confuse the golfer and require skill to play.

I was disappointed to see such a rough looking course for play . The paths were filled with thick sand and it was all we could do to walk through. The staff were running unending amounts of carts back and forth and kept us covered in sand dust all day. Have no desire to return. emoticon
