Pride Goeth

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

Remember the boasted "no doms, nsv" blog? Aaaack!!! I spoke too soon. Pride goeth before a fall etc. etc.

Yesterday my left knee put the lie to all that . . . really really sore. Took a bit of the joy out of those red polka dots! With the white kitten heels . . . .

So: I hobbled up and down the stairs at work. And stretched the ol' knee (cautiously) with alternate toe pointing/heel extensions. And worked the hip flexors intermittently all day long. And didn't actually fall. Did not.

But basically rested the knee as much as possible.

(Although I did manage to get the nasturtium seeds planted after work . . . and all the new little plants watered again.)

Today the knee appears to be much much better. But I'm going to take it easy, absolutely.

And will have to decide on what to wear taking into consideration: absolutely flat shoes too!!

    So sad.
Some shoes are so pretty and so, well, nasty on the joints.
I'm noticing big changes with an inch difference in heel. I'm not talking 3 inchers!
Flats to slightly raised are bothering my stupid toe.
I was just learning to like shoes.

Give that knee a rest -- you know just what to do. It's okay that it took a bit out of you. Just shows you were really pushing it. Now you are recovering. Good job!!

So sorry about the knee :( Ice in addition to the rest too? Sometimes it does take a couple of days for the DOMS to appear -got some soreness from my fast 10 km walk on pavement. Knew it was coming though, pavement is not my friend!!
So love nasturtiums but Mom decided not to put any in this year :(((( They are such a bright perky colourful plant and edible too!
Have a better day today in sensible shoes!

Sorry to hear this! But flats are very spring-like - think Audrey Hepburn in some little flats, with maybe a straight skirt and a sweater set (and of course she'd wear a pillbox hat). Can you go casual and wear a denim skirt and maybe sneakers? Or is that too casual?

When we're pushing our limits, I think it's part of it that we go over our limits sometimes. Don't beat yourself up about it and get better soon! emoticon

Glad the knee is feeling better today. You are a much better woman than me, I would have skipped planting the nasturtium and just sat out on the verandah with a soothing beverage.
I wouldn't have said it was pride, I was thinking it was joy. Besides I wouldn't say it was a fall, such a quick recovery is probably due to your fitness level. So cut yourself some slack, because you are awesome.
