A Love Story

Monday, June 09, 2014

I got married when I was one day away from turning 39. I was at a point in my life where I figured I would be single for the rest of my life. ...and I was ok with that. Finally! I taught 4th grade at a small Catholic school, and I absolutely loved my job! I didn't make a lot of money but that was ok. I had various female roommates during the time I was teaching, and I had all I needed to live a comfortable life. I have 5 sisters, and the one I'm closest to had 2 kids, who I also became very close to. So I saw that and my job as my "kid" fix. After many years of being frustrated because I seemed to be doomed to be single, I finally made peace with that. Just because I wanted a good quality of life, I lost about 75 pounds at that time.

My little catholic school: St. Josaphat's School!

Then, my roommate joined a Christian dating service. She asked me to join with her, and as she promised there was no cost to join with the basic plan. I sent in all my info, and went on with life. After about 2 months, I noticed that my roommate was getting dates, and me nothing! Oh well, it was worth a shot! LOL!! Then, one day after summer vacation, I was in my classroom getting it set up for the first day, and I received a phone call. I talked briefly to the guy, and confirmed my home phone number with him. Later that week, he called my at home, and I asked why he called my work first, he said I had put the wrong home phone number on the application! Well, he was the only guy with enough gumption to call me at work. We dated, got engaged, and then got married. Now it is 19 years later and we are still very much in love and happily married!

I feel very blessed that Dave had the stick-to-it attitude he had! And blessed that he loves me just the way I am, but also supportive of my weight loss efforts! I would like to share a long life with him, so I will continue to pursue this weight loss effort.

Happy sparking, friends!
