Escaping the Heat

Monday, June 09, 2014

I am SO fortunate I live only a few hours drive from the ocean, and just an hour's drive from the Sierra. So, when it was gonna be 105 degrees the last two days, I went hiking!

Yesterday, I did a nice hike at Pt Reyes National Park - up Mt Wittenberg, down to the ocean, and back Bear Valley trail.

Today I headed to the mountains with friends - did the PCT south from I-80 (seeing two PCT thru-hikers on the way!), and then looped back thru Angela, Flora, and Azalea lakes, having lunch (and some swimming) at Flora Lake. The weather there was wonderful, and the trail was beautiful!

So happy - and I wore some hiking capris I just finally fit into after losing 5 pounds! So that was a nice new change - hard not to go overboard eating when hiking, but I've been doing good recently; good that I'm tracking!!
