Who knew we were trying to be healthy?

Monday, June 09, 2014

Over 15 years ago we remodeled our kitchen. It really needed it (old appliances, avocado colored boomerang Formica and very dark cheap cabinetry). Why am I telling you about this now? Well 15 years ago I had no idea, Id be eating a mostly, super healthy diet, being active every day and maintaining a healthy weight, but we knew we wanted to move my kitchen sink under the beautiful sunlit corner of my kitchen. The problem with that desire was that it left a huge pie-shaped area that was pretty useless for storage. After discussing options with our contractor, we decided to install a reverse osmosis, filtration system under the sink so we could improve the taste of our water. This is the one we bought from Culligan.

Now 15 years later we are still using the filter. I use it to make my 2 cups of coffee in the morning. My husband and I go through almost a gallon of delicious cold water every evening at dinner. The remodel was for aesthetic purposes and it still looks great. Buying the filter was an afterthought but it turned out to be really important healthy lifestyle change component because the water still tastes great. Its also really nice to avoid dealing with all of those plastic drink bottles that we would have needed otherwise.

    emoticon GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!

I use a filter on my kitchen faucet and we have fantastic tap water - because I HATE to buy bottled water. I am in complete disgust of the number of those plastic bottles you see in parks and on the street and after ball games or public gatherings - lets not talk about the plastic "island" of trash floating in the Pacific off Hawaii. We humans certainly do seem determined to foul our "nest" as much as possible. More people behave like disgusting pigs with no respect for their environment than I'd want to admit, and saying that is actually an insult to pigs.
