STRAWBERRY PICKIN' : D

Monday, June 09, 2014

I picked 6 quarts of strawberries at a local field near my house on Friday. The day was sunny with a gentle breeze and blue skies. I walked along the patches of green plants looking for bright red treasures. I found them! So I got home and cut off the stems, gave them a nice bath and put them on display. I just HAD to share my treasures with my Spark family.

These are truly some of the sweetest strawberries I've ever eaten. It really does take back strength and perseverance to pick them. Three days in a row we've had home cooked oatmeal with strawberries. I also made homemade whipped cream to put on top of these beauties.

Although I am such a fan of chocolate, I could really see myself forgoing the chocolate for delicious fresh fruit like this all year round. I am on the alert to go pick in' again. Blueberries and black raspberries will be in to pick at the end of June. Then in later July, there is a peach orchard close by as well. I LOVE living in Delaware!

I hope my Sparkers are lovin' the fresh produce like me! : D. emoticon emoticon

Nice, my oldest boy has a really nice strawberry patch, he just started it a couple of years ago and it is producing pretty good this year. Fresh are so much yummier than store bought. Good find.

They look delicious! My neighbor makes homemade jelly from fresh strawberries and always gives me a small jar. Yummy!
