A week in and I'm feeling good!

One week done in June and I'm feeling awesome! I've got even a better handle on the pop I drink. Almost every day (I think I had an extra once), I've only had one. I've been drinking a lot more water and I can tell the difference. I did okay with eating out. I did have McDonald's for breakfast twice, which I shouldn't have done. Plus Chiptole once....I feel okay about the Chipotle though. I had a bowl and split it up over two meals.

My downfall has been finding stress relievers. I think I really need to start journaling again. I know it helps me to relax and to get the weight off my shoulders. My hesitation in doing this is my unfortunate roommate. I know he's read my journal before and gotten angry about what I've written. Since now my biggest stress is him, do I need to add the worry of him reading it? I've also been working 10-12 hours a week without a lunch break, but that actually hasn't been as stressful as home. Probably not a good thing.... I'll work on it more!

Hope everyone has a fantastic week!! :)

You can always do a private journel online and have it password protected. He will not even know it is there. Sometime a journal is the perfect outlet for your feeling etc.

So glad you are feeling awesome and had a good week. You get a virtual hug from me!! Stress can be a negative..I know. So work it off walking, swimming, bird watching, biking, or just relaxing outside. You can do it!! You are going in the right direction keep going........it can be slow, it doesn't have to be fast. I think journaling is cathartic. It releases those negatives and helps you to thrive on the positive. Your home should be your sanctuary........ think about what you can do to improve it!     What others have said:

* Exercise, burns calories, reduces stress.
* Walking: also allows you to review and improve your program and your commitment to it

Congratulations on your progress.

Sounds to me like you either need file encryption on your journaling, or a new password on your computer, or a new roommate, or "all of the above".

I would write the journal if it helps you and if you cant trust your roommate to respect you personal belongings then maybe it is time to find a new roommate emoticon

Good luck with the stress relievers. It's too bad about the roommate reading your journals I can't think of any suggestions! You can do this. Woo Hoo you for blogging!

Looks like you're taking some good steps. Others have given some recommendations for sites with private journaling.

As one who often worked through lunch, I recommend that you use that break to eat something nourishing and maybe take a short walk before heading back to your desk. It might brighten the rest of your day and give you additional emotional cushion when you face your biggest stress.

I used to think I handled my 45-minute commute well. Then I started taking the bus, and co-workers gushed at how relaxed I then became. So maybe I wasn't the best judge of how I handled stress!

One step at a time is the secret to success. One of the biggest things is that you are aware of what you are doing and cutting down on the pop is fantastic, right along with splitting your meal in half!
Journaling can be very therapeutic and helpful in being a stress reliever, do it on your computer so no one can have access to it. You are trying very hard and don't need someone to make you feel unhappy. It sounds like your roommate doesn't have any compassion or understanding of the journey you are trying to be on . :-(

Sounds like your roommate is a Scorpio, since that is the only type of guy I'd know who would read through your journal and then get mad about it. Not good. emoticon

You know there are so many amazing journaling programs for the computer that you can get out there that is what I had to do before. That way no one can read them but you. Some even have password protection available for those extra nosy users. If journaling is what helps then go for it. If the roomate is nosey and can't stay out of it then maybe it is time to find a new roomate. Don't give up and do what makes you smile. I love to color myself and have my fav kids coloring books on hand for those extra sad days. I am pullin or ya we are all in this together. emoticon

Hey, you must be from the mid-west, because you call it "pop". I'm from Michigan originally and now that I am in New Hampshire I am looked at funny as they call it "soda". LOL Anyway, I am a pop-aholic as well but I have found that crystal light is a great way to enjoy water. Keep it up! One day at a time seems to be the way to go.

emoticon Congratulations on getting a better handle on the soda intake. It helps a great deal to journal your thoughts or even write a blog about them. If you would rather journal, it sounds like online journaling would be an option for you, so that you can keep it private. Keep up the good work. emoticon

Good for you on the soda, such a hard habit to break. I have it now maybe once every couple of months. For the longest time, my partner and I would polish off a 2L bottle with dinner. Good for you!!
