so this blog will have very bad grammar and punctuation. I'm typing with one hand and it just takes too long. what I did my fall while cornering on my bike. Front tire caught some loose grit and didn't turn.. It was a choice of launch into a county drain ditch with a 15 foot drop or lean in/down on bike and hope it grabs. Nothing happened so I put my left arm out to catch myself. I broke a bone near base of thumb and something up in elbow. left hip, lower leg, and ankle bone hurting and scraped. Right now I have 2 ER splint casts which go from tip of thumb all the way up to my shoulder. And it is that agony kind of hurt, much worse than my cracked heel. The good news is that I was able to pound my handlebars back in-line with my front wheel and ride home. Then I ate some dinner because you should refuel after a workout. Then off to ER.

On my start page I have some moto-postings some are goals and some are posters/sayings. here are some and their completion.

Get back to race shape- I was on my way, got through a tough psoas, nursed some plantar faciitis, and was rebuilding strength with flexibility. also cross training heavy

get back to 176- have been stuck at 181.4 for two months. had a break through and started loosing again. last weigh in was 178.8, next morning was 181.6 with 2 splint casts on my arm. so I've lost at least the weight of my new protective gear

run certain races- this year I've done a 5k, 8k, 5 mile, half marathon race, 2 half's runs, and a half marathon trail race. runs to go 15k, marathon, and a 50 mile ultra.

run a half marathon series- 2 of 7 races down, just have to figure out how to run this weekend- the jarring on my arm might be quite painful

PMA- positive mental attitude- hanging in there with this one

And last but not least- the ER people asked me at two different times if I was on a "motor" bike, because I messed myself up that bad. I had to explain, NO, I was pedaling, I was just really moving it. My ride that night consisted of 17 miles in 90 minutes. I was aiming for 17 miles in one hour, but my fall and injuries kind of slowed me down.

    Wow
That's quite a tale!
I would've just sat down, cried then got myself together enough to call 911!
But, I guess that's the difference between guys & girls

Here's to a quick heal!

Wow, Konrad! Hope you begin to heal up quickly and that you can stay positive through your recovery. I had a similar experience about ten years ago, but miraculously didn't break any bones or do any damage from the neck up in spite of how fast I was going and how far I was thrown off my bike (and subsequently skid across some very gravelly pavement). I had road rash EVERYWHERE else, which was extremely painful, but fortunately heals up pretty quickly. I also had several large gashes, the scars from which I wear like badges of honor even though they've faded a lot.

Like you, I was out of commission for a while and wrapped up like a mummy, but these things do heal up and just require a bit of patience. Hang in there and count your lucky stars that it wasn't worse!

Never thought you'd hear a compliment like that, did you? "Sir, were you riding a motorcycle?"
"Naw man. I'm just REALLY fast."

You are amazing, Konrad. I look forward to hearing about how strong your arm will be after you are finished lifting that extra weight for 6 - 8 weeks.

I am so sorry to hear that you are injured so badly - be careful with that wrist if it is your scaphoid bone that is broken (which I suspect based on your description). They can cause chronic severe pain if they don't heal well. I am all for exercise but I want you to heal! Fantastic that you are keeping up the PMA - that is always the most important thing. Hope the ER folks were nice to you!
