Despite the ups and downs I've been experiencing emotionally the past week and a half, today was really good!
Even though I wasn't getting up extra early to exerise, I needed to actually wake up at the time my alarm went off instead of hitting snooze for 30min so that I'd have a chance to eat breakfast. The alarm clock went to the other side of the room last night and this mooring when I get out of bed to turn it off, I didn't take it back to bed with me to continue sleeping, yay!
Breakfast was attempt #2 at the Overnight Oatmeal trend (last's week failed 1st attempt was a pumpkin pie version). This recipe consisted of oats, greek yogurt, 1/2 a banana and 1tbsp of chocolate chips...I happen to find greek yogurt incredibly sour and this morning was no different- the banana & chocolate just didn't add enough sweetness, however I would rate this attempt 'okay', it was far more edible than my oatmeal last week! I made the same one for tomorrow with the addition of strawberries, hopefully they'll provide the extra sweetness I am looking for.
For my AM snack I returned to an apple and cheddar cheese, but my apple was a little mealy, so that was a bummer!
Lunch was a Southwest Salad in a mason jar, I'd been dying to try this out, unfortunately I wasn't overly enthused with the end result. The salad looked beautiful, but it was a bit sweet for me, I also tried a Chipotle Ranch Yogurt Dressing that I picked up at the store and I wasn't a huge fan of that either.
PM Snack was greek yogurt and a peach...I tried my first flavored greek yogurt- I'd only had plain up until now. This yogurt had a vanilla flavor...and while i find the plain greek yogurt too sour, this was way too sweet!
Dinner was supposed to be at Outback Steakhouse with a friend, but since we also wanted to squeeze in a movie and some shopping, we decided to go to Panda Express instead. Luckily the decision was made while I still had access to my computer and come to find out, Panda has a fantastic nutrition calculator on their website and I was able to come up with a meal that cost me far less calories then Outback would have...win! I had Orange Chicken and their Mixed Veggies, the veggies were completely bland, but the orange chicken was delicious and I felt good about my choice.
My favorite thing about not drinking soda is the money I am saving, approximately $2-$4 every time I eat out, it's fantastic!
Despite not really enjoying a single thing I ate today, except my orange chicken, I still feel positive and upbeat, I think this is due in fact to eating the right things and not going to bed feeling overstuffed and uncomfortable.
Tomorrow's lunch will be a challenge, my office is catering tacos, hamburgers & hot dogs- we shall see how I do!
