Working on today's Bible Study homework (Beth moore's "Stepping Up",) God once again gave me one of His famous nudges. I've been dealing with a lot of unforgiveness, hurt, and anger. Counseling hasn't seemed to help, though I will continue to go..
Today we read Jeremiah 29: 12-14
"You will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and places where I banished you”—this is the Lord’s declaration. “I will restore you to the place I deported you from.”
(Jeremiah 29:11 is a very commonly quoted scripture leading up to these verses. " For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."")
Anyway, the question regarding these verses asks "What does the Lord declare He will restore, and how might the concept relate to you in spiritual terms?"
This is when God told me what my fortunes really were and reassured me that I would, indeed, feel them again. It is such a simple answer, one that we all may have been able to give, but to *feel* it being spoken to me was just peacefully reassuring.
God declares to restore my fortunes. My fortunes are happiness, trust, the ability to forgive as commanded, peace....and faith.
Continuing with the reading Beth Moore says ...
"He (God) not only diffuses out past of all power to haunt and harm us but he infuses it with power to help others. Redemption is incomplete if our negative past if *only* diffused. Satan won't be completely sorry and God won't get all the glory until the bad is used for good.
I love that amidst my anguish (and seeming hopelessness) God is still there to offer a bit of hope and show His love.
