Can't Lose

Tuesday, June 03, 2014

I read something this morning on facebook that stuck with me. It said something to the effect that no race ever started at the start line. Isn't that the truth? The race is just the culmination of the training.

My race on Saturday the 7th will be my first in the 65-69 age group. It will be hot and humid, but a very flat, familiar course around Lake Hollingsworth. I suspect if I show up and run my race for all 4 races of the series, I'll probably place. I think I'm trained enough. And I think I'll really enjoy the running. Even if there is more competition than I anticipate and I don't place, it'll be okay. I still win fitness, improved health, and pride in my effort!

emoticon Have a wonderful race day!
Thank-you for sharing that sentiment, I fear I spend far too much time thinking about 'race day' and not focusing on the present journey I am on.

You are the showcase for a winner! You have shown how its done the moment you began losing weight and then reaching goal.
You have got this!

You are already a winner in my opinion.
go for it...must be hard though to run in the humidity...so glad we do not have that here.

You are a winner in my book! I think that it is awesome that you are running in that age group! I am not sure I will be running at that point but I sure will be walking! You keep on rockin' it! You are doing awesome!

The trouble with "winning" is it sets up the expectation of "winning". Remember the real goal is to be able to enjoy the activity for a long, long, time! As your blog title says, you can't lose! emoticon
