Hiking in Picardy

Hello dear Sparkfriends,

Three weeks without a hike! No no no no way! Well… life happens. Travelling for work, dealing with a very wet weather, and trying to find solutions to various problems... Needless to say I NEEDED a hike today!

This hike which started in Cinqueux, in Picardy, was wonderful. I know, I know, I say that all the time! But really, it was wonderful! : )

It was the simple countryside from the area North of Paris that I know well and love so much…

The fields are just beautiful at this time of the year!

And the gardens too!

But as always, as I walked on the paths…

I had some wonderful encounters (this one was my favorite, aren’t they cute?!)…

After the fields and the meadows…

… the woods were so refreshing!

There were some ferns I had never seen before, quite tall and slim.

And there were lots of wild honeysuckles!

Then I crossed a wet area that was full of flowers of all kinds… Nothing extraordinary, simple wild flowers that made me happy!

Then I crossed Harbercourt. It was a lovely little hamlet, with some nice houses and a chapel that looked straight out of a fairytale! Don’t you think?

And I was back in the woods again, almost all the way back to Cinqueux…

There were lots of poppies on the side of the path as I approached the village.

It was almost the end. But I felt frustrated I had only seen the marsh area through the woods, far away. So I drove there after my hike to take a few pictures…

It was so peaceful and beautiful! A perfect end to today’s hike!
Many thanks for reading! As you can see it was one of my 'usual' hikes, nothing really special today. Yet it was exactly what I love and it made me feel so good! I hope you are all having a great weekend!

I think I love the wild flowers as much as you do, or almost. They are so beautiful, and they nourish the soul.

CLAIRE I am sorry I missed this one. My Spark page was set to private and my whole page was re-arranged. I happened to see it on Ginies page so I went to take a look. We have those red poppies in our yard. We always loved poppies in our house and in our school. Thanks for the lovely pictures I have a camera full but cannot down load to my SURFACE 2 tablet. That is frustrating.
I hope your mother is settled by now. I do hope so. HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Another beautiful blog, Claire. As soon as I saw itbI recalled a line from a song,
The roses that bloom in Pacardy.... Like the roses that bloom in my heart'
I think I haven't quoted it correctly, but the melody is in. My mind even now.
Thank you, Claire.

Claire this was a beautiful hike, thank you so much for sharing it! The poppies were lovely, and I really enjoyed the tall ferns. I'm so glad you went to the marsh and shared the photos of that delightful area. The church really was like a fairy tale chapel!

I think it is very important to get away and enjoy the beauty of nature, particularly during stressful times. I did not hike this weekend (I was visiting mom and spent most of the time in her room at the nursing home) but I was glad the hotel had lovely gardens. But I missed hiking, it helps me keep calm and in touch with the good thinks in life.

Hugs and much love from,
Alison

I just love those big, red roses at the beginning of your blog!! But, I have to admit, as much as I love roses, I adore the scent of honeysuckle. I can only imagine the sweet scents on this hike.
The farm animals are adorable. The one with the sheep and chickens looks like a painting. I love it.
As always, you have managed to "take me away" with you. Oh, how I would love to see these beautiful places with you someday!!

Claire, as always the flowers are beautiful. I thought I recognized a honeysuckle flower. Do you believe I had a honeysuckle bush in my backyard in Philadelphia! I just loved it. You were in wonderful and peaceful surroundings which I am sure you needed on this hike. Thank you again Claire for sharing the "simple" which is almost divine. emoticon emoticon June

Not the architecture, but the green paths and rural scenes are so redolent of parts of England. Lovely.

I hope that this hike enabled you to de-stress from your recent, but sadly ongoing, problems and worries. Your photography is terrific and the fact that so many people follow you and appreciate your posts is testimony to your talent to engage us all.

Hugs 'n more hugs

    Dear Claire,
Thank you so much for taking us along on another delightful hike through the spectacular countryside in your corner of the world. It may seem like a simple hike to you....to me it is utterly beautiful. It would be so lovely to have walks like this close to home over here too. The little chapel is so sweet, and I loved seeing the animal companions you met along the way, as well as the wildflowers, poppies and those gorgeous roses! They look as if they would have the most incredible scent. Thank you for blessing us with these delightful blogs of your walks. Warm thoughts and prayers to you and your mother and hoping everything improves with her situation and your concerns.
Big hugs, Nattacia
