Food Pushers, Temptations, My Rules

I have my rules that I live by for me. Overtime most have respected my rules for myself.

Food Pushers - "Here try this!", they cry.
Temptations - They abound at social gathering with so many options.

I do not impose my rules on others. I simply state what my rule is and change the conversation. I have been complimented by my fortitude, but now it is not fortitude, it is just what I do, like coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. It the law, so you stop. Simple, clear concise.
At a recent picnic, many munchies were available. I decided what I would have and the quantity. That was it. Sure more stuff was available, but no regrets, I made my choice, was satisfied with it at the time, and later even more satisfied that I did not over do and feel ill.

Went out for my fellowship meeting. (aka Happy Hour) I have a one drink rule and I savor that drink. I do not NEED another. If I am thirsty I can have water with a twist. An appetizer, usually I pass as the options are usually disappointing to me.

With having my rule or decision clearly defined. it makes it easier to enjoy and still stay on track.

    I agree with you: for example I "don't do doughnuts". That's decided. And so I don't even ask myself if I want one, when someone brings in a huge gooey box . . . and another of cinnamon rolls!! Those were more tempting but . . . didn't have one of those either.

    My answer that ALWAYS works: "Oh, that is so sweet of you to offer (XYZ). Unfortunately I am allergic to it. But thanks!"

Shuts 'em down most every time. If it doesn't, my next tactic is to excuse myself and move on!
