If you find meditation hard to do (I have trouble quieting my mind), but would like a quick way to reflect on helpful and important ways to improve your life, think about signing up for the free daily email from Jane Powell. Update: My little streak of not eating after dinner is at 3 nights now and I think #4 is coming up. Another SFriend (Linda) suggested drinking water in the evening when I want to eat. Didn't want to because I've done that before, but I've been doing it anyway, and running to the bathroom a lot. No, that's not quite true...I walk as fast as my legs will carry me, but it is definitely not running. That evening eating thing is a real problem for me...I think I'm a very "oral" type person. If I'm not eating, I seem to be talking. So, for now, I think I'll just stop while I'm ahead and wish you all a great evening and to tell you to keep the faith, smile and never give up on yourself!!!

    The ice tip is a good one! And I find that in the evenings if I have a plan...read, walk, go upstairs to the craft room, anywhere but near the kitchen!

    I am so proud of you for setting your mind to no evening eating and making it happen! That is THE toughest temptation of all to overcome, and you are doing it - WOO HOO!

    Thanks for the site--I will check it out. Sometimes a nice cup of herbal tea hits the spot--some are naturally sweet and really help me "get" my sweet taste. You are a strong lady--and you'll have 44 in the streak before long!!

    Good for you, Jeanne! I am so happy for you, and know how strong you have to be to control that evening eating. Keep up the good work! emoticon

    I checked out the website for the daily meditations and signed up. I sometimes need to be "grounded" in my thoughts and funnel them to make myself (my mind, really) more open to the possibilities out there. I also signed up for the weight loss meditations so we will see! emoticon so much for sharing the link!

    You are doing great!! I drink in the evening as well and it does help. Enjoy the peace of mind that comes!! You know, if you're talking you probably aren't eating so go for it!!

    I also love reading Jane Powell's daily meditations as very often like you I feel she knows me and is giving me some personal good advice. I found her website and liked it and I'm so happy you do also. I think it was yesterday she talked about putting fun into your life and her thoughts were very simple but hit home as she said spend time around children, what better ones than our own very loved GC & GGC. I'm so happy you're on a good roll in not eating after dinner. I've been very unfocused as the last 2 nights I've eaten lots of ice cream. Why is it almost everything I love is either unhealthy or loaded with calories--but usually both. My scale nor I are happy with me. Before I know it I'm going to be over 250 pounds again and I'm vowing here again not to let that happen & do what I know is best for me. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Thanks for the link. And congratulations on eliminating the night eating. I still am eating after dinner, but I'm limiting it to a particular food. I should do what you do, because I also have acid reflux in a bad way.
