Queen of the Klutzes...

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

OK, I am clumsy. In a very dramatic way. There was the time I tripped in the SteinMart parking lot, did a double gainer and skinned my knee without ripping my pants or the brace I was wearing on my knee. My 3 BFFs stood there laughing while I was laying in the traffic lane. The gentleman who saw it happen got up and walked away. My friends did ask if I was ok once they stopped laughing. I guess it was pretty spectacular...

Then there was the day I was here in my home office and I heard my cellphone ring in the kitchen. My cleaning lady was here and had just washed the floor. I took a home run slide and tore my ACL that time. Not so good. I am really careful when those tile floors are wet.

When my first husband and I had our first home it was not quite up to code... the stairs were very narrow and steep. I cannot tell you how many times I fell down those darn stairs.. But despite that, all I really did was tear my meniscus a few times... and it mostly healed, didn't need surgery till I was 50..

So I do have this history.... But last night as I was getting ready to go to bed, I tripped over the rug in front of my sink, and did a face plant on the tile floor. I really thought my nose was broken, but it is just sore and swollen. I have a big goose egg on my forehead (thank goodness for bangs!) and my knees are bruised. I may end up with black eyes... Now it's funny, last night, not so much... But didn't feel quite up to the gym today, or even a walk this morning. Will be walking tonight when it cools down some.

Honestly, I do have pretty good balance - I do balance exercises and the yoga 'tree" pose. But sometimes.... I really am just a klutz!

OUCH! I'm kinda klutzy but not in a damaging way. I may occasionally walk into walls, and drop things but I'm getting better reflexes I guess because I can catch things before they hit the floor. Can't wear any type of shoes with high heels, I fall right over. My DH wants to get tile floors, but I'm leery of them because they're so slippery. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

  Hi Patti...........
No wonder we have the same name and are friends.............I share your title. I have fallen so many times over the years and have also torn my meniscus and both rotator cuffs, broke a toe, and had multiple bruises. You are NOT alone.........

If you are the Queen of Klutzes then I must be first runner up!! I've had some crazy accidents like stepping into a gasline; having a tanning bed fall on my head; bending down and knocking my head on a bed post.... I can't even use the blind excuse because other blind people are not as bruised and scratched as I am on a daily basis! I fel the other day and really hurt my knee! Not even sure how that one happened! Probably a good thing we don't live close to each other or we would end up hurting ourselves and each other! Hoping you heal soon!

Ouch! I am pretty klutzy too. Someone even asked once if I was being beaten by someone else..no I just fell and wonked my eye and forehead. I was walking the dog and tripped on the crack on the sidewalk. Poor dog, just stood there waiting for me to get up. She was pretty mad that the walk ended so soon..I fell right in front of the house. I didn't have bangs at the time. Hope you are on the mend soon!

I hear you on the clumsy thing! Glad you are OK and did not break your nose. Whenever I would fall, the first thing my sister would ask, "did anyone see you?" - nice, huh. One time I was walking around and trying to separate two frozen pieces of garlic bread, ended up with 7 stitches in my finger that time! We would be dangerous together!

I hope you feel better now. I have my trips and falls too just being in too much of a hurry. I think your friends should have helped you up before they laughed.
