Our yard is a terrible sight. After this long Chicago winter, and then the rain, we took a look at our mud pool of a yard and closely assessed. There were piles of old leaves that I raked, expecting to find more mud underneath. Mud I did find, but I also found life! There underneath everything dead, was one of my hastas, springing up from the ground. It was green and strong. I've find that hastas are virtually impossible to kill, they persevere, every year, even in our shady lawn.
I want to be more like the hasta, coming back after defeat even stronger. Or like the lotus, who grows beautifully out of the dark mud.
Lord, please let me remember this as I begin (again) this journey. With your strength, I will also emerge stronger and new.
