Two More Days In Honolulu

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

Well we have two more days in Honolulu (really more like two nights and a day and a half). It's been a mostly good trip so far. I have a few down moments. Yesterday was one of them bur hubby and I talked about it as we lay in bed last night. He understands how I feel about what we did yesterday. He did go to the Luau last night. And we had fun. There was a brief intro to some Polynesian crafts (I now have a fond head dress) while we sipped a Mai Tai.

Lei making:

Fond Headband making:

Then they used couch shell horns to announce that the imu (a rock lined cooking pit) was ready to be uncovered. In the pit was a whole roasted pig!

Then we had dinner....Hawaiian food! There was Kahlua pig (from the imu), lomi Salmon, poi, teri chicken, teri beef, a slice of baked taro, and rice. Dessert was Haupia and coconut cake.

After that was a show with dancing from all walks of Polynesia. Hawaiian,Samoan, Micronesia, Moriori, etc. This included a 15 yr old Samoan fire dancer. He was amazing!

Today we went to Sam's Club here (it's a two story store..Sam's on the top and Walmart on the bottom). Then we hit up Leonard's Bakery...the best place for malasadas on the island.

After some more shopping we did lunch at Rainbow Drive In. I had chicken and feed the birds my rice. They were greedy little buggers! emoticon

This was me today after we got back:

OK...almost time to head off to bed. Here's some more pictures from the last few days:

This is as close to the gym as I have gotten:

And the last one for tonight...from our room:

Tomorrow I hope we can hit the beach for a few hours. Then Thursday afternoon we fly to the Big Island.

See you all tomorrow I hope...I'll try to find the time to post something!

OH yeah...I did a load of washing here at the hotel...$5.00 to wash and dry a load and the drier didn't even get our stuff dry! emoticon

And one more things..things went good with both hubby's daughters. I was worried about the youngest (they hadn't talked since 2005 or so). But it was all cool! emoticon

OK...night night everyone!

Have so much fun on my favorite place on Earth, the big island! I'm sorry you had an emotional day, but glad you and hubby are having some good times together.

SO glad to hear that all went well with the kiddo and you guys were able to sort things out between you and him.. Gotta say you look really fetching in that strappy little black and white number you were wearing! (I think it's black and white). So where are you off to next? Where Chuck's mom lives? Hugs, Calen~
