They love each other! Haha. We've had a great Memorial Day Weekend. Took the kids to a church picnic yesterday at Lake Lemon. They swam in the lake all afternoon and even got to ride on a bass fishing boat. Thrill of their lives.
Then, we hung out with my friend who has 8 kids until 11:30pm or so. Lots of cookout food there too!
Today we will hike at McCormick's Creek State Park, play in a waterfall and check out some caves. Then, we have yet another cookout with some friends in our apartment complex.
The kids love being here. They love being together and they have a hard time finding the desire to go "home" when the week/end is over. I sometimes think it's because the entire atmosphere is different here. Not only do we have loads of fun activities planned for them, but we treat them like they are responsible adults and give them jobs and expect them to act their ages. They are all so used to being coddled and babied in their other homes. I think they like the feeling of being independent, having a real part in the inner workings of a family and being treated like they actually have a brain and can think for themselves. It's not easy with five, but I'm so glad that all of these kids now have two great examples of what it means to work hard, earn money and take care of a family.
This is the way it should be.
