Too Precious to Waste

Sunday, May 25, 2014

Nephew has found a better job! So glad he will no longer be delivering pizza. So glad he will finally have a set schedule and definite income. It is night work, but at least he will no longer work until 3am and then have to be there at 9am. Sleep is as important as exercise, or just about. So hoping this will help him take the next step to health!

I like the "early to rise, early to bed" philosophy, but it isn't easy. With hubby being a not-until-after-midnight sleeper, it is super hard to go to sleep at 9 pm to get enough sleep for a 5 am wake up. I do it on Friday nights for my Saturday run and am going to try to more often. Would love to make it a real habit. I had such a good sunrise run yesterday and sunrise walk this morning; those cool morning hours during central Florida summer are just too precious to waste!

Being from a more temperate part of the US, I hadn't thought about needing to run early when it's cool. Early mornings are lovely and conducive to thinking!

Yay for your nephew and YAY for a good night's sleep for you! I do get to bed at 9 PM, and as DH's caregiver he usually wakes me at 11 ish for a bathroom visit and take him to the living room, then again at 2:30 AM for his pills and breakfast, then again at 6ish to awake for the day.

I figure I get in a good amount of sleep, just not all in one chunk like normal folks LOL!

Congrats to your nephew, that is wonderful!
Always seems to be sleep conflicts between couples. Same thing here -Mom wants in bed by 9 pm, while Angus is later..
Enjoy your early mornings, I like them too, for the peace and quiet before the traffic starts, both cars and bikes on the paths..

I have lived my whole life with "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy wealthy and wise."

So far I've got good health and I think I pretty wise... but the wealth has still not come my way. LOL I'm sure it will soon.

I have been a "morning" person my whole life. My DH is a night owl too but it works for us....

Yes, that Florida weather is definitely something to keep in mind! emoticon

I so agree about going to bed earlier but it is hard. I am shooting for 10 pm so I can be up by 6 am to walk but in June when I will be working part time I too will have to push it to 5 am so I have time to shower and get to work so guess it will be 9 pm for me also.

Congratulations to your nephew. I have a husband who stays up too late too but I go to bed when I want to go to bed. Often I have been out for a walk or run before he wakes up. Usually he doesn't even realize I have been gone. When he was working he had to get up at 4:30 and thus had to go to bed early. He enjoys having the freedom to stay up and he enjoys his afternoon nap which helps make staying up possible. emoticon

Good luck. I have never been able to do this, myself. Unless I am sleep deprived, I am not sleepy before 11.

I'm an early riser too -- and have to say, DH has modified his former "night hawk" over the years!!
