Some Follow Up to Yesterday's Disjointed Thoughts

Saturday, May 24, 2014

No sense in worrying about hubby's surgery as there is nothing we can do about it until it's time to go, which will be at least 17 days from now. He seems to be doing fine emotionally and it isn't going to help him for me to fall apart! So, it's time to live.

I ran 8 miles with my Galloway group this morning. It was the hottest, most humid run of the year and I think everyone could feel it. We ran about 13 minutes per mile, definitely slower than last week's pace in much cooler weather, with some miles a little slower and some a little faster. The group was honestly a little slow for me, so it didn't strain me. Found out who will be leading and who will be in my group next running season, beginning June 21st. I really like everyone and think we'll be a great group. Fritz, the 77 year old role model, is in my group for the first time! He has a wonderful sense of humor, so that will be fun. Several younger women will run with Brendan, our former Program Director, as our leader. He is extremely knowledgeable about running, injury prevention, and injuries, so I feel blessed!!

All the paperwork is filled out and my National Weight Control Registry envelope - postage paid even - is ready to go. My WW leader was quite willing to support my efforts.

I did the SparkRecipes slowcooker chicken with salsa and black beans last eve. It has definitely become a family favorite. Tortillas are good with it, but last night I made cornbread which turned out to be a hit. (There was no soup or sour cream in my recipe: just salsa, black beans, a little corn and the chicken. Adding additional low sodium taco seasoning would probably be good. Sometimes I've used fresh cilantro and that is good! )

My Garmin Forerunner 10 with the broken strap works fine in my pocket, but Garmin has committed to send me a new strap at no cost. Yeah.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy Saturday!!

You didn't mention the temperature, but I guessing it was hotter than my 88! It was back to reality today as its 63, cooler in the morning which was perfect for the marathon being run here. I simply can't imagine running in that heat!! You did amazing!
Your recipe sounds great!
Hope you get your replacement strap soon! My Tom Tom Nike watch died on me, so I took it to a watch repair for a battery change, but they had to send it to another shop because they didn't have the proper tools to open it.
Well done on your great Saturday!

Hang in there! I'm glad you are realizing that worry doesn't help. I'm also glad that you are taking time for you. Nothing like a run to help lower the stress level and have fun with your group. Keep at it and know that you and your hubby are in my prayers.

Don't know if you've ever tried, but if you make your own spice mix, you can make sure it's as low-sodium as you want.
easoning-I/ is a recipe I've used with 1/2 the salt presented here, but you could vary it however you like.

You are so right that it won't do your DH any good if you fall apart. I know I need my DH to be strong for me when I am falling apart.

Wow, 8 miles in that heat....good for you.
have a terrific rest of your week end

Glad you'll get your new strap for the watch... kind of going through in reverse order. Lovely group run, even if it was warm and sticky. And congrats on getting NWCR stuff filled out... I've been there for 3 years now, I think.
