Day 2: passing up temptations

Thursday, May 22, 2014

Well, yesterday went better than expected. I packed a lunch/dinner for myself at work that was heavy on the fruits and veggies with a diet Snapple tea as my treat. I had the opportunity to eat a cookie yesterday and I passed it up preferring to bring it home for today's dessert. (And it's a soft yummy sugar cookie!)

I burned more calories than expected and wasn't that hungry so I had some fruit leftover. Then, I heard a coworker complain that they were starving after twelve hours of work where all they'd had to eat was "a banana and a bit of cake". Lol, yes, we are nurses and we should know better.

Knowing this coworker is a vegetarian, I gave her my leftover apple and some PB and cheddar crackers that are part of my emergency stash. I couldn't stick around to see if it helped her mood; I had to get back to work.

So, summary... I burned more calories yesterday than I expected (not enough to reach my goal of 2800, of course, but still I'm happy), I ate a little bit less than I expected, so I still made my -1000 calorie deficit for the day! And I gave up a sweet temptation. :) A very good day, indeed.

It's going a lot smoother so far than expected. Maybe because I already built some healthy habits a couple years back when I lost my original thirty pounds. And I'm surprised at how full the veggies are keeping me...I'm not even eating a lot of protein or anywhere near my usual amount of fat and my tummy is still satisfied for at least four and up to six hours. Course. It helps to stay busy, like I have been with work lately. :)
