Oh! The Things You Can Think If Only You'll Try!

We are so GLAD emoticon to own our home at last! I have never had my very own home to do just what I wanted to....Wow! I feel like someone handed me a gift!

As a family of 6, we rolled up our sleeves, dug in and WORKED!!
Today, I trimmed 6 beautiful crepe myrtle trees....that looked "transformed" afterwards...Yay! Such beauty deserves to be maintained. I trimmed the hedges in front with my eldest son, and we raked/trashed 6 bags of leaves that must have accumulated for a year under the shrubbery....LOL!
My DH trimmed the lovely mature ash & pecan trees we have in the backyard. My son hung two great tree ropes to make swings for everyone - lots of fun today...swinging so HIGH!!!
My daughters planted many flowers, broke up the soil, and cleaned up after tree trimming.
I forgot the rototiller, emoticon so I used a sharp shooter, and created a 4X4 garden..:::transplanting some of our favorite flowers from the old home. That was special. But I don't recommend my method...it was madness w/o the rototiller. LOL!

The utilities are turned on, and we assessed what needs to be done inside:

...::foyer wallpaper needs to be stripped, and primed/painted
...::new foyer light fixture needs to be hung - my choice! emoticon
..:::kitchen needs a fresh new color of paint and trimwork. I might choose beadboard....still undecided.
...::my DD's want me to paint a tree mural in their bedroom...now THAT will be a delight to do!
...::the HUGE fireplace needs to be whitewashed, and we have plans for a DIY window seat
...::need to choose a backsplash for the kitchen

My biggest chore will begin tomorrow - prepping my kitchen cabinets for painting....I know this is a huge undertaking, and I love the challenge. My desire is to finish before the granite countertops are installed. I know...I know...this undertaking is nothing to sneeze at, but I have research under my belt, great direction form my Contractor dad, and an assertive attitude.

...just in case you are interested in just what I am doing,....here are 2 vids I found.

Needless to say, this will take days. My sister will be caring for my children tomorrow, allowing for me to really chip off a lot of work alone.
So here I GO!!!! ....:::but first, a good night's rest. emoticon
