I had mentioned here earlier this spring about a pair of hawks nesting in a tree in our front yard. It has become a daily thing for us to take the binoculars out and watch them. They hatched out 3 but think they have a hard time raising 3 little ones so the stronger 2 chicks booted out the weakest one. We found it a little over a week ago dead at the bottom of the tree. At that time we only thought there were 1 or 2 chicks but must have been 3. On Saturday when the grandkids came out we had a good look at 2. They had a lot of feathers then and were perched on the side of the nest. Their heads were still fuzzy. Today we noticed one was gone and think he flew the nest. The last one was still there squawking for something to eat. But think the parents have moved on and it is their way to force this last one to fly. so here are a few photos.
The granddaughters hawk watching.
We had one granddaughter who didn't want her picture taken.
