Another half marathon is now in the books. I ran Cleveland again. Done it a number of times, but this year was different ...
This is my first larger event since the event in Boston last year. Not sure if it was comforting or scary to see all the bomb sniffing dogs and law enforcement officers, and a helicopter or two over us. To the officers including the K-9's who made sure we were unharmed - THANK YOU.
Second- a new route. The organizers really have designed a great new routs for the event. Loved it. Lots of neighborhood running in great areas. That also meant lots of spectators and support.
Third - the weather. One sentence - could not have been better. Mid 40's at start - mid 50's at finish and bluebird and little wind.
I ran into a bunch of people I knew and from the start I was in no hurry, I just wanted to go out and have a good time. And guess what - I had an awesome time.
So with the past postings I am sure you are interested in my fuel strategy. I had a smoothie with kale, whipping cream, almond milk, half a cup of blue berries, chia seeds - and for blood sugar control I added cinnamon. On my way I drank two servings of Generation U-Can super starch. That was it ... on the course I drank water at every water stop - I never felt hunger at all - and even better - I feel great!!!
