The Big Snooze

Saturday, May 17, 2014

I've had to make some hard decisions this past week. One of them was to leave the BLC. I was getting so far behind on the various steps of the challenge that it was becoming more frustrating than fun-encouraging. I just wasn't able to keep up, let alone contribute.

Some of you have probably heard me quote my former pastor who used to say that "not every good idea is a God idea." Looking back, I realize that signing up was not a God idea. I have been so super busy with my new tasks at the Bible school and my regular job at the language school that my time and energy have been stretched to the max.

On the other hand, I have gotten so tired of being stuck in my weight loss journey! I knew that I needed to make changes, and I thought that the challenge would give me a boost out of the doldrums. But adding one more project, even one involving lots of super, supportive Spark People like the leaders and teamies of Azure, was not the right thing at the right time.

So, it's back to basics. My goals are pretty much the same as those listed in my last post. I'm making my sleep habits a priority because I think that getting that in order will put me in a better place all around. I've made the commitment to stop using the snooze button and set it up as a check-off goal on my Spark Start page. Today is Day 3!

Sometimes we have to take a step back and take a look at things, it is so good that you took the time to do that! Keep working away at your goals and you will certainly reach them.

Sounds like one bump is just a bump, and you keep on your journey!

I like your attitude for healthy living - some things don't work out as planned, but it doesn't mean that you give up, you carry on with some other things.

I think it is good to allow us to fail on a few initiatives, especially when developing a healthy lifestyle. Many want to do perfect all the time, and with the first bump they give it all up.

Happy to hear that you stay on the road, it inspires me!

We will so miss you Michelle, but everyone needs to be clear about their needs and health. It does seem like your job has ratcheted up tremendously! Just make sure to take care of YOU as you take care of your work responsibilities, too. Huge hugs!

It is good to prioritize and let go of things that aren't helping you.

Great job with the snooze button! It's hard at first, but then it becomes second nature. Most days now I wake up a few minutes BEFORE the alarm even goes off!

I have set myself back in the past, by choosing to try to do too many "good" things. Balance needs to be a top priority when we look at the big picture. Otherwise my life seems to topple over in ways that affect everything that is important.

Work on that sleep. I'm working on not hitting the snooze button also. It's a hard habit to break!
