I did go to the new specialist yesterday and I think he's very smart. He is an Internest, and Allergy Specialist.
He wants to see the results of a whole bunch of blood work on me that was drawn today, but his initial feeling is that back 3 years ago when I had the benign brain tumor back in my head wedged between my optic nerves, pituitary and hypothalmus he thinks that my hormones that regulate my thyroid, ovaries, liver and pancreas got really messed up.
In the last year and half I have been asking my regular FP to check my TSH and it's been good so we've lowered the dose of levothyroxin that I take. Well this doc explained that I've made myself very hypothyroid which has added to my weight gain and of course my fatigue.
He is supportive of alternative therapies like my use of essential oils and herbs. And he likes that I've been trying and successful getting off several Rx medications by using essential oils. Yay! But he does prescribe thyroid medication and wants to keep me on a higher dose. He did explain that, I'm forgetting exactly how that goes, but it made sense at the time.
So, my new doctor's first recommendations are: stop consuming sugar, wheat and all other carbs and gluten. I've been doing some of it already, but in the last 24 hours I've had no bread, potatoes, noodles, rice etc. and I'm very proud of my self. I do to see him again June 2nd.
Even though this all may sound kinda bad I've been feeling a little better over all.

Anyways, the kids (21 and 19) and I are going down to south FL to see my mom for the next several days and I'm going to try and enjoy it very much, but try to keep to the dietary restrictions.

It isn't just excluding the crap "food", it is also eating real food: fruits, veggies and lots of greens.

You are into alternative healing, I would recommend getting into juicing and green smoothies.

AWESOME! I am so glad you like your new doctor. That means a lot. I love my rheumatologist and my thyroid doctor...my regular doctor is just so so.
I too am on thyroid meds and tend to agree with his idea that larger dosage would be good.I recently had my dose increased and it made a HUGE difference in my fatigue level.
It is a challenge to live with diet restrictions...but I bet you will see that you feel better and better. I am glad you already are feeling some better:)
Enjoy your time down south with your mom....
I am at the beach in Florida...it has been raining...bummer. But I am enjoying time with family. So get some R&R if you can......
Hugs,
Sarah
